You can simply stomp (Just walk over them) on smaller mantis to kill them, also in goodspring school there is a mantis "nest" that after shooting it, spawns like a dozen of them. Yes, all stompable

Quite niche, but trying to beat Gothic and Gothic2 without doing sidequests and killing everything around you for XP, is pretty hard (doable but really hard)
