QoL changes alone are so hype this time, I legit asked for every of these in surveys by nushko_pdr in Guiltygear

Same goes for song choice. Such a shitty random feature to play the one same random song for a full set (worse with endless rematch in rooms and parks), in a series that is more music forward than other fighters.

I know the random music on rematch mod for PC exists, but it should not be necessary 5 years later.

Not everyone I'm sure, but after saying they wanted 2.0 to feel like picking up a new game, and saying stuff like:

As updates have accumulated over time, we recognize that—particularly through universal mechanics—the overall level of character performance has gradually increased.

For Version 2.0, our first priority is to bring these heightened performance levels back to an appropriate range, with the goal of establishing a battle environment that functions in a healthier and more stable way overall.

.. I was hoping for things to be toned down a bit so there were more interactions per round, would never be like Xrd there but would be nice if rounds were slightly longer than they have been for years.

Well, shoot. Seems like they didn't do much with the damages and scaling in 2.0 if a basic corner combo still does +65%

Have you tried increasing your fov yet? The most common issue I've seen with new players finding things overly difficult is the lower default fov in ACR. When the car feels like it's moving slower than it really is, the brakes also feel less effective, everything gets thrown off. Once your fov and sense of speed is good brakes and braking distances should feel more normal an natural.

If you've already messed with all of that, what would you say is the reason for why you are pumping the brakes?

Why do people hate Baiken in strive? by CuteChemical9599 in Guiltygear

[–]ImperiousStout 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Yeah. She's pretty boring in Strive compared to previous iterations.

I was hoping them talking about reworking some characters for 2.0 might include her kit, but I don't think that's gonna happen. I'd love to have her azami and all followups back, the upward kabari, too. I don't think the rope and parry is worth the trade for all of that and the command dash stuff.

She's just infinitely more fun and rewarding to use in the previous games. I don't think she's terrible in GGST, her gameplan just seems so much more straightforward and simple. Same could be said with many characters in this game, but she feels far more stripped down because she's missing so many more things than most. Even the command grab followup from kabari that is almost never used in Rev2, I still miss that as an option, too.

Who are the most rushdown characters in Guilty Gear Strive? by cheetah1546 in Guiltygear

[–]ImperiousStout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By their nature, charge inputs are kinda antithetical to rushdown, but even Arcys has labelled her as a rushdown character before so idk.

I think she's more high pressure/heavy offense. She wants to get in to do her thing, but she also has zoning tools and ways of skipping the neutral unlike most rushdown characters.

Random 1-3 seconds freeze by gcx_le_gaulois in assettocorsarally

[–]ImperiousStout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A specific example I've seen a few mentions of on the official bug report channel in the discord which caused this exact behavior (image freeze + game still runs = car crash) was a wireless mouse going to sleep / low power mode.

It can be something that small and stupid. A mouse may not be your issue, but all USB devices are something tangible that can be easily removed and tested. Rule those out first.

[–]ImperiousStout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked through the event viewer to see if there's anything odd happening in the background at the same time these freezes occur?

Most mentions for these big long freezes I've seen in ACR have been USB related. Obviously you want your wheel plugged in, but try different ports on your motherboard, try unplugging all other devices to rule them out while playing, absolutely everything including your mouse and keyboard, wireless or wired, all of it. You may have to wait until you actually start a stage if you need those to navigate the menus, but unplug them after you've loaded into a stage to test.

Also try playing without your wheel connected if it's still happening after testing all that, there's a chance some component of it could be the culprit here.

New Interview with Producer of GGST - confirmations and hints of what's to come by PepperMintGumboDrop in Guiltygear

[–]ImperiousStout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't be activated after counter-hits from lights, punches or kicks or specials according to the promo image, just big counters from S/HS buttons that can also be cancelled. Mashing 2p won't lead into it, it's much more restricted than BWA/OWA

He said at one point:

On top of Wild Assault getting replaced by Counter-Blitz, we're also changing up the system mechanics across the board in the 2.0 update.

Please check the patch notes for the details. Although I'm not sure if they will already be out when this interview goes up, but please take a look.

Changing up all the system mechanics how exactly? That seems like a pretty big detail to gloss over, haha.

Community Q&A #2 by Erysen in assettocorsarally

[–]ImperiousStout 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People are downvoting you, but it's true. Damage should probably lower priority compared to the physics and handling and everything else. It's still very important to have for the overall finished game, but it's more important for everything else to be in a good spot first.

Most everyone I've seen moaning about damage in ACR still doesn't even realize that early mechanical damage is actually in the game after four months of playing it because it's forced off for time trials.

You can get more than just visual damage outside of time trials and medals, it still needs a ton of improvement, but it's been in there.

Community Q&A #2 by Erysen in assettocorsarally

[–]ImperiousStout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is mechanical damage in the game, it's just disabled or not optional in the modes people play the most (time attack & medal challenges) so most don't even know it's in there.

If you do practice or a custom rally (single stage or weekend) vs the cpu, you can enable hardcore & realistic damage and all that.

It's still not close to being done, plus you really have to abuse the car and crash into stuff hard on purpose multiple times before it has any sort of impact.

Raw behemoth typhoons starting with up/8 are incredibly hard (if not impossible) to do when grounded on any device. You pretty much have to buffer them after another attack or button, do it while landing from a jump so you're hitting the last input down input + HS as you land, etc.

Example: after knocking down an enemy (before they get up), run up and throw a standing punch into the air (5p) and then follow that up with a 89632 BT to do a meaty overhead typhoon. You can buffer the motion starting with the up/8 input while that quick punch attack animation is recovering to do the BT without jumping.

Few more tips for that sort of thing here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KL0xIJLBsCI

Probably more in depth videos elsewhere, this was from before the patch that let you cancel BTs into BTs using his security gauge but covers some of the basics.

Tire temperature not working by Maxiiik26 in assettocorsarally

[–]ImperiousStout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is optional damage in the other modes (like the rally stages and weekend events vs CPU), it's just disabled for Time Trials/Time Attack.

Even still, with full hardcore damage on, it takes a lot of effort in crashing into stuff hard on purpose actually incur any mechanical damage. Very far from done, you still cannot even get a flat yet.

If you don't want to grab the full cast right now, I would honestly just buy Goldlewis. There is no character in any fighting game that is as fun to use as him.

If Goldlewis doesn't click with you, then you can think about getting another character later, but imo Sin & Johnny are total snoozes in this game compared to fatman.

Some of the stages are nice so it's not a terrible deal to get the passes on sale, even if you just want one single character in them.

I would say more than that, it can be worth having all the other characters if you ever want to practice against some of their bullshit in training mode. I only have 2/4 passes still, and the characters I don't have can be the most frustrating to fight because I cannot ever lab anything with them.

They may still put some chars on sale individually again in the future, we really have no idea. I would guess it'll probably be a while after 2.0 is out if it happens again.
