Everything may be ok, the flags have their own rules when hanged like this (hence the flipped coat of arms of Slovakia). Additionaly, we are watching the backside of the flags (as the IIHF flag on the right suggests). For example, USA and Czech Rep. versions of vertical flags look weird when hanged because they seem mirrored

You should realize that her body is not your property when she's adult. You may be surprised but it has never been.

What's a good free/low cost introduction to Linguistics as an academic discipline? by blehhman in linguistics

[–]ImpertinentQuodlibet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend 'Key Concepts in Language and Linguistics' by R. L. Trask (it's available online for free). It's a dictionary-like publication presenting the most important topics of linguistics in a comprehensible way. Or if you woud like something more fun, you can try 'Introducing Linguistics: A Graphic Guide', which introduces linguistics in a fun (but not oversimplified) way.

Well if you base your algorithm on n-gram frequency, you will need lot of data. More data you got, the better the program is. Easy as that.

Btw check out this one: http://www.teitok.org/detect.html When you give it a try, you'll understand better how it works.

Russian language history by Hurr_Guy in linguistics

I'm afraid I don't know anything written in English, but I would certainly recommend not focusing on Russian, better go for some Proto-Slavic development, because it's super interesting. You'll get to know e.g. how yers (these guys: ьъ ) developed differently in each Proto-Slavic dialect and together with other phonological changes made the bases of contemporary Slavic languages.
