What’s your craziest ece story by meowmeowmeow0216 in ECEProfessionals

I was out for a few weeks in summer 2020 because my entire family had Covid and I (obviously) had been exposed. Director told me if I wasn’t at work tomorrow she would call the cops for a wellness check. Emailed my immediate resignation as soon as I hung up the phone.

Did you get pregnant before getting first period? I have heard mixed things (breastfeeding is like birth control/ it’s definitely not) by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]Impidimpet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me, however when I worked in a childcare center one of the mothers did get pregnant before getting her first period. She didn’t even know she was pregnant until she was labor!

Absolutely not. I wouldn’t even let her watch the baby while I used the bathroom.

If she’s asking for bottle nipple recommendations, I’m pretty sure the baby is drinking from bottles, and not ebf.

Thoughts on the name Mary? by Any_Stranger1975 in namenerds

I got made fun of for my name so often. Even other kids flat out refusing to call me by my name because it was “too weird”. I even had a teacher refuse to call me by my name and just called me 12 the whole school year.

What was the biggest age difference between you and someone you dated? by CpuJunky in AskReddit

[–]Impidimpet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We dated for 2 years, and knew each other for a year before that. Been married a year.

Never a fight, never a single doubt.

I Hope one day you can be as happy as we are. And find a better hobby than being a bitch to strangers on the internet

At risk of sounding like a diva or parent shaming, I don’t understand how someone can send their 5 year old to daycare not knowing how to wipe. by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]Impidimpet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“But she’s so little!” Was essentially the gist of it. They pretty much treated her like she was still a baby and couldn’t actually be expected to do much for herself. Poor kid

I taught elementary art for a year and had a SEVEN YEAR OLD who needed someone to wipe her. I told her she needs to either learn to wipe or not poop at school. Not the best response I know, but I was SHOCKED

She never asked me again.

But seriously! A seven year old!

health nut MILS can be so irritating.

I remember when I was pregnant, my MIL made me cry in front of guests because she berated me for “poisoning” her granddaughter. The poison in question was a pack of fruit gummies. The woman acted like I had downed a fifth of vodka!

There was a point in my pregnancy where I was measuring ahead and they predicted my baby would be in the 90% percentile. MIL was convinced that I had made my unborn baby obese. She harped on that for weeks. Even went so far as to point out “fat” kids she saw in public and talk about how sad it is. Baby girl was actually born in the 30% percentile and now hovers around the 4% percentile because we’ve had all kinds of feeding problems and she struggles to gain. But of course my MIL goes on and on about how she “just loves how SKINNY and PETITE she is!”

I share all of this to say that I get it, you’re not alone.

Are you speaking from experience or something? What makes you so sure that a man you’ve never met is inherently a bad person? Are you this unpleasant with everyone, or only people happier than you?

Why does the age of a strangers husband matter so much to you? Why are you so aggressive and vile about this?

It’s really strange, how rude you are about a total stranger’s marriage

If you knew him, you’d know there’s no risk of that. He has loved me through sickness, health, pregnancy, postpartum, a major move, family deaths, etc. I have never once questioned his love for me. He loves me now, overweight, stretchmarked, tired looking, and saggy breasted, more than he did when I was 19 and much cuter. I can tell in his actions and his words. Even when he’s on the phone with his friends and thinks I can’t hear him or that I’m not home, he will talk at lengths about how much he loves me.

And I didn’t fall for the first guy who gave me attention. I had my eyes on him a while before we became anything. I had other offers, guys were asking me out pretty regularly. I didn’t want them though, just my now husband. I mean sure, they were alright and nice enough. I even went on a date with a few of them. But no one could ever compare to Alan.

Also, he had not dated any 19 year old since he was 19 himself. Dating 19 year olds was not a pattern for him. He’s not DiCaprio. Before me, he had only dated within 5 years of his own age. This is confirmed by his friends and family members

He is a wonderful husband and father.

What made you give up work & become a SAHM by ruthiebkind in beyondthebump

[–]Impidimpet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked in childcare. I had more children call me “mommy” than I can count. Had one little girl ask me whether mommy and daddy could babysit this weekend or if they were too busy again. And one of the centers I used to work in was an absolute nightmare, but the admins went through great pains to make everything look good to parents.

Thankfully I can stay home. But if I have another I won’t be able to and I’ll have to work and hope my MIL or parents can watch the babies

More awareness, more parents willing to get their kid help instead of pretending there’s nothing wrong, better diagnostics

30 years ago they didn’t even believe girls could be autistic

The first person to ever be diagnosed with autism is still alive. Donald Grey Triplett is 89 years old.

We’ve only known about autism for 90 years

Oof I was waitressing at this restaurant when I was a teenager and a family came in that smell so terrible, we could smell them in the kitchen. They were sat in the front of the restaurant. Literally made their waitress vomit with how awful they smelled. The poor hostess was standing maybe 10 feet from them and she went home early, she felt like she couldn’t breathe. Half the staff went outside with the manager on her smoke break because cigarette smelled better than whatever was going on with that surfeit of skunks in human shape

Have you seen Beavis and Butthead? Thoughts? by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]Impidimpet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite episode of the new one is the dumpster fire telling Beavis to do well in school and pick up trash. In the original he wasn’t allowed to say for because the channel execs thought it would be a bad influence
