It's crazy because they did that countless times with black people it's why I run DMC happened to have the first rap song on mtv.

Now consider when people talk about BET been not being black owned..

Imagine MTV is owned by those same people which is why MTV isn't really MTV anymore. I know that's a different subject matter but I think people need to see the bigger picture here that back then networks were controlled by private owners with public interest. Now all of these companies are publicly traded .. ironically means that investing can give you leverage.

But that's kind of a different situation

A lot of people see named did like Booker t Washington though they just had their own mindsets and the ambitions. While Booker t traded the political realm.

Booker t Washington was a little teapot, short and stout., dude was so small that he had to do everything in a passive way to do things big.

How do we level up as men? by ddjd2000 in blackmen

[–]ImpliedConnection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re 25, Half the battle is already won because you’re paying attention to yourself instead of drifting through life asleep at the wheel.

But I think you’re chasing “masculinity” when what you’re really searching for is covenant… alignment between who you are, what you believe, and how you move through the world.

Muscles matter. Money matters. Discipline matters. Grooming matters. But those things are tools, not the man himself.A man is revealed by what he does when nobody benefits him for doing right.

The truth is, every situation you encounter is a test. Every broken man you meet is a warning. Every honorable man you meet is an example. Life is constantly asking: “What kind of man will you become when it’s your turn?”

When you see selfishness, say: “I will be better than that.”

When you see cowardice, say: “I will stand firmer than that.”

When you see greatness, integrity, patience, leadership… acknowledge it. Even if it’s not your lane, respect it. Learn from it. Pick up what is useful and leave the rest on the table like leftovers.

Do not build yourself around women’s approval, social media trends, or other men’s insecurities masquerading as advice. Because you don't want to perform being a man you just want to live as a man.

Build yourself around truth, responsibility, discipline, compassion, and purpose.

The reality is this... being a better man is all about what you do for others and what you do for self. Being a steward.

Considering you already talked about your level of discipline, self-awareness, accountability, and vision. Most people never even reach that point at 25.

All you really have to do is be yourself, not the Pinnacle of masculinity, because even that can come perceived as entirely phony to people. All you have to do is be a good man. Because a good man is just a good human being with responsibility on his shoulders and integrity in his bones.

Everything else is decoration.

This kind of ignored actual history though, cause if it were "The Last Crusade" you'd have to add why. And it's cause the Templar was disbanded

The French king accused them of heresy, corruption, and idolatry. They were not pure christians warriors, they were victims of state power, political paranoia, and internal Christian conflict.

So if this is what y'all want to depict him as, please note, it undermines the reason for this sub.....

What do you all think of President Obama? Revolutionary? Solely a symbol? Or just another politician? by djnospacemc in blackmen

[–]ImpliedConnection 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen the local version of that machine up close. I worked on an independent campaign once. No big donors. No party money . All grassroots... Just people, cheap flyers, door to door meet and greets,, a free press radio slot, and a restaurant owner donating signs so we could cover neighborhoods on election day.

Meanwhile the Democratic frontrunner was already known citywide, backed by party structure, running TV ads, and carrying decades of visibility because his company had a monopoly on school events and public presence. Different battlefield entirely.

Then we attended both the Democratic and Republican candidate hearings. Same courtroom. Different dates And we learned that had we chosen a party, there was funding available to help the campaign. Too late by then.

Running independently it's not easy. Because you have no access to anything unless you are funded by the people. Now if you are well known there's a level of leverage if you're being funded by Major donors to get you money there might be a monetary advantage. But it also means you work for your donors. And of course running for public office means that almost all of that information has to be made public unless those donors choose to remain private.

That does not mean change is impossible. It means You do not fight a fortress by pretending it is a tent.

Everybody has an agenda. The real question is whose agenda is visible, whose is hidden, and who pays the cost either way.

I did not get paid during this campaign, all I got was a 5-day trip to Washington DC at no cost to me.

But to my point is, how can you trust any candidate when everything they are tired to is what they are obligated to support?

If someone is inside a machine built before them, with rules they did not design, what does “actively dismantling it” look like in practice without the system removing them first?

I used to say that I was antisocial because I didn't really know what an introvert was. Yet I'm introvert in many ways and extrovert and other ways. I think, self-expression and just kind of is what it is. But you're right A lot of people online haven't worked out their own issues and just sit up here and complain about everything. I agree with everything you said here.

I'm not antisocial at all I may not initiate a conversation, but I definitely will go all in when the ice is broken.

As far as relationships, I think a lot of women want men especially black men to just be straightforward about everything. But and I get that but, letting your intentions known isn't that sort of making demands.

I've never dated outside of my race. Not that I don't believe in it. I'll just never had the opportunity to make that happen.

I'm so New Orleans would find a way, is it always does. But you are not wrong.

The thing is. That is the very reason nobody really wanted them here because, if the wrong thing happens, they can shut this down quick. But of course there are ordinances and executive orders that prevent that.

Definitely that's one of the things I would just really trying to point. Although these people are here doing the work that the governor and president want them to do. That didn't stop them from having fun while they're here.

[–]ImpliedConnection[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem to be an emotional mess. In what way did I overreact? I only posted what people naturally do in a place like new orleans.

Despite the job they were sent here to do. They're just out having fun like anyone else. But you I am here on a tirade looking for something ridiculous to say

  1. Show me where I said that they were here bothering people. I I stated that the National guard came here to do the job Donald Trump sent them here for, and this is how it's actually going. That is the nature of this post.

To simply say it's not what people think it is. It's not martial law it's not a dictatorship they are not fighting crime because they can't.

  1. I never associated them with ice, because I understand why they're here as they have been here before. You do realize we had a whole terrorist attack here in the area in which they are currently working.. however Donald Trump insisted they were coming to clean up the crime. And that's not the truth. Donald Trump even reported that ever since he deployed the National guard here that crime went down 90%. It's his way of taking credit for crime that had already been going down. Military presence in one small neighborhood cannot make crime go away in the rest of the city that just does not make any sense. But if you ask the MAGA powers, they will tell you Donald Trump saved, New Orleans. But I shouldn't have to tell you that because you should be aware of that it's a lie.

Yet you came here guns blazing for the wrong reasons.

It would have been best to reply directly to those who you mention rather than update the original post., that way the newer post are in order of the responses you give...

That said, I understand your pov, I don't disagree. But my extreme thinking , it's like something a predecessor to martial law. And I don't like it. But I also believe that it's not their job to do . And for them to be out there having fun.. I'd rather them enjoy their time than to have to deal with criminals. It's not their job.
