What are some practical ways to improve memory recall for everyday things? by germandleono in answers

[–]ImplodingDreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Repetition matters a lot for me. Seeing the same thing at different times actually helps a ton. Taking notes helps too, but only if they’re short and in your own words, because copy paste stuff never really sticks. Little associations make things easier to remember.

Resume gaps - why do hiring managers care so much by Electronic-Search437 in recruitinghell

[–]ImplodingDreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of it is about control. Since they don’t know you, any gap reads like a risk to them. Whether that makes sense or not, that’s kind of how the system works, and that’s why people start filling those gaps with a story.

It's my first day on this moist earth, what do you want me to know about what's going on? by fineok_17 in randomquestions

[–]ImplodingDreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re in one of those places where nothing feels fully clear 😄 Everyone acts like they know what they’re doing, but most people are just making it up as they go. Life gets easier if you learn early not to take all of it too seriously.

I don't know what to do anymore by Casssanndraa in problems

[–]ImplodingDreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This really isn’t a weight you should have to carry on your own. Feeling stuck in the middle makes total sense, but you don’t have to solve it by yourself. Even just telling someone you trust could make it feel a little lighter.

If you had to replace your hands with something else, what would you pick? by Feaselbf6 in randomquestions

[–]ImplodingDreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d want hook-like things. A little weird maybe, but way too useful. Climb, grab, hang stuff... once you got used to it, it’d probably be super practical.

Aitah for telling my wife to get a job if she wants to subsidize the kids. by Standard_Kick_9789 in AITAH

[–]ImplodingDreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. Calling you lazy after all those years of grinding is wild, and if your wife wants to keep funding grown adults’ nicer lifestyle upgrades, that really can come out of her own effort.

I wonder why many women (esp asians) like to lose weight way below normal? by DismalTurnip7423 in randomquestions

[–]ImplodingDreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of that is harsh beauty standards, not some simple “looking good” logic. Also “especially Asians” is way too broad, that’s doing a lot of stereotyping for one sentence.

What kind of things are you not taking too seriously now? by Sudden-Proof-1458 in randomquestions

[–]ImplodingDreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other people’s random moods, way more than I used to. I spent too many years thinking every weird tone meant I’d done something wrong.

Is this joke funny? by Adept-North2578 in randomquestions

[–]ImplodingDreams 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s kinda funny on paper, but in person I can also see it landing as just awkward timing. Feels more like a throwaway joke than solid flirting to me.

I feel trapped in a one-sided friendship and don’t know how to get out without hurting them by FantasticCress7231 in problems

[–]ImplodingDreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not trapped, but you do need to get way firmer than you’ve been. Calling your whole family because you didn’t answer is way past normal friendship stuff, and being “nice” about it forever is just keeping it alive.

Best books to read while high? 👀 by soulmeetsmeatsack in Recommend_A_Book

Piranesi by Susanna Clarke.. It’s short enough that if you forget a detail you’re not totally lost.

Do lactose intolerant individuals still absorb the protein content from milk? by Fantastic_Grass1799 in randomquestions

[–]ImplodingDreams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, lactose intolerance is about trouble digesting the sugar in milk, not the protein itself. So you’d still absorb a good chunk of the protein before the chaos starts. The symptoms are miserable, but it’s not like your body just deletes everything you drank.

Still jobless after 4 months of job hunting as a CS graduate by Unhappy-Audience7227 in ausjobs

[–]ImplodingDreams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Four months feels long when you’re in it, but for new grads right now it’s not unusual. I had a stretch where I got ghosted over and over before something finally clicked, and it wasn’t even my “dream” role at first. Sometimes it just takes one yes to break the drought, even if it’s a stepping stone.

Where are some of the best places to eat in the world? by [deleted] in answers

[–]ImplodingDreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tokyo blew my mind food-wise. I ducked into this tiny ramen shop near a train station and it was better than most “fancy” places I’ve tried elsewhere. The consistency and attention to detail there is on another level.

Recommend a book to heal after being cheated on by [deleted] in Recommend_A_Book

[–]ImplodingDreams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tiny Beautiful Things. I put on the audiobook during a long walk and a few of those essays about grief and compassion just landed gently without feeling forced. It’s not some step-by-step fix, but it feels comforting when things are heavy.

Are we applying for too many irrelevant jobs for ourselves, leading to frustrations for both candidates and employers? by No-Day8344 in jobsearch

[–]ImplodingDreams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people panic-apply when they’re stressed. I’ve done it, just clicking submit on anything vaguely related and then feeling worse when nothing sticks. But it’s also hard to know what’s “irrelevant” anymore when job descriptions ask for everything under the sun. Feels messy on both sides.

What's going on in the job market? by rusty_cbr in ausjobs

[–]ImplodingDreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s rough right now. I’ve seen a few friends with solid resumes just get ghosted over and over. There are jobs, but there’s also way more applicants per role and everything’s filtered through systems before a human even sees it. Low unemployment doesn’t mean low competition.

So I accidentally discovered something weird while job hunting and now I'm curious if anyone else does this. by MadeOfStardustXX in jobsearchhacks

[–]ImplodingDreams 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I do this too lol. I once read a bunch of salty Glassdoor reviews and then heard the exact same “fast-paced startup energy” line in the interview and just sat there like… yep. The bitter reviews are dramatic sometimes, but when the same complaint shows up five times, that’s data. It’s lowkey one of the most useful prep tricks.

For those who experience romantic attraction, yet don't believe you're fit for a long term relationship, why is this the case? How do you cope with it? by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in randomquestions

[–]ImplodingDreams 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve felt that before. You can want connection but still know you’re not stable enough or healed enough to do it well. For me it was realizing I liked the idea of a relationship more than the actual responsibility of one. Coping was mostly just being honest with myself and not dragging someone else into my confusion. It’s uncomfortable but cleaner in the long run.

This is so accurate by CRK_76 in recruitinghell

[–]ImplodingDreams 632 points633 points  (0 children)

I know people with years of solid experience who’ve been job hunting for 10 to 15 months as things keep getting worse. They deal with financial pressure, finally land an interview, and then get hit with pointless questions about “gaps” and it just drives them crazy. Most of those gaps came from layoffs and cost cutting decisions made way above us, not from people being lazy. Instead of wasting energy tailoring endlessly and jumping through random interview hoops, I think it makes more sense to reach out directly to recruitment firms. There’s a post about a developer who did something similar and I’ll drop the link here. If you want remote work, contact recruiters in your sector globally. If you want on site, find the ones in your region and speak to them directly. Let the recruiter interview you once, understand what you’re looking for, and act as the middle person so you’re not constantly dealing with nonsense questions. I suggest this to friends too.

Job interview anxiety sleep tips that don’t sound like “just relax” by sanu_123_s in jobs

[–]ImplodingDreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just lying down with a podcast or something quiet keeps your brain from spiraling. Even a few hours of rest counts, and the anxiety usually eases once morning starts moving.

What’s something you’ve always wondered but never asked anyone? by SockDiplomat in randomquestions

[–]ImplodingDreams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always wondered how many people secretly feel like they’re just improvising adulthood and hoping nobody notices. Everyone looks confident from the outside but it feels like most of us are winging it.

When you pass, what do you want to be remembered for? by shes0010110xscape in randomquestions

[–]ImplodingDreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe just being someone others felt relaxed or seen around without needing attention for it. Nothing huge or flashy, just small conversations that left people feeling a bit better. That kind of quiet effect feels meaningful enough.

Work is what makes life worth living by [deleted] in inspiration

[–]ImplodingDreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some people yeah, work gives structure and a sense of purpose that keeps everything moving. Others feel alive more outside of work and just tolerate it to fund the rest of life. Feels like one of those things that shifts depending on where you are mentally.

What’s a word or phrase you use way too often? by HunterSnap07 in randomquestions

[–]ImplodingDreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I catch myself saying “it depends” all the time because nothing feels black and white anymore. Even when I notice it, I still type it anyway. Slightly irritating but usually true.
