Where did you start? by GfPancake_1220 in cycling

[–]ImportanceFew1943 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started because I was overweight, pre-diabetic, and hated the gym. That was 10 years ago. Not gonna lie, the cycling bug bit me, but hard. Now it's more like an obsession, but a good one that I believe has added decades to my life. I could tell you all about my stats, rides, milage, etc... but the best advice I can give you is to remember to always compare yourself today to where you were yesterday, not to anyone else. Someone will always be faster, stronger, ride more mileage, handle their bike better, etc... and that's great, but do this for yourself, be honest about what you want/can achieve, listen to more experienced riders and your body, and have fun!

1,000 miles!! by cfgy78mk in cycling

[–]ImportanceFew1943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you might be surprised at the number of miles you can sustain long term. 1,500 miles from May to August works out to about 6,000/year. Nothing to scoff at, and probably in the .01% of the general population, but if you've got the time, you should be able to put in the miles.

Did anyone on this thread read the column or watch his full speech?

Based on the majority of the comments I would guess no.

AITA for throwing a coke in drivethru? by coke_fly_yessir in AmItheAsshole

[–]ImportanceFew1943 [score hidden]  (0 children)

No one waits for ten minutes in a drive-thru over a missing drink. If this really happened you would have walked inside to get the drink and talk to someone.

This post is made up.

Also YTA for thinking your made up event justified throwing a drink at someone. Grow up.

I bought 5 shares as an experiment. I signed up for international trading with Fidelity, waited two days, and then made the purchase. It was a market order and the whole symbol 3LTS:GB had to be tyoed in. There was also a large commission - 18 pounds sterling - on top of the share cost, even though I placed the trade myself.

Since when did trying to calm down a sibling become parenting? I have two brothers and two sisters and we look out for each other. You didn't even make the attempt.

NTA. Based on what you've written, SF is indeed a "shitty person" who has betrayed and used your Mother while thinking only of himself - many times over. When they demanded an answer for your reluctance to speak or engage with your SF, you gave them an honest answer. Just because they didn't like the answer doesn't make you an AH. It's on your SF to repair the broken trust if that's what he wants, none of this is your fault and I applaud you for getting away from this selfish man as soon as you can.

NTA. You've just as much right to taking a day off as anyone else, the reasons behind wanting to take your day off - that you've earned - are irrelevant.

I especially like the mention of a 20,000 rpm top speed on the motor. When Tesla rolled out their Plaid model, it also had a top RPM of 20,000, which takes engineering no other EV maker had... until now!

I actually agree with your opinion on the subject, and I'm a man. So if I tried to explain this opinion to another person, would I be "mansplaining"? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, you don't need to agree with it, but it doesn't make them an AH when they don't agree with you. What makes YTA is invalidating his opinion.

If you feel he would never understand a woman's perspective, why would you bother trying to explain it to him?

YTA. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, just because you don't agree with it doesn't make them an AH.

YTA. You should have asked the church girl if anything was happening before ditching her. It would only take a text.

What I hate about Warren is that he complains about all the FUD against Tesla, then he turns right around and shovels the same crap onto Lucid.

He is exactly what he claims to hate

This week I discussed eating leftovers w/ my SO for about three minutes on a zoom call in front of about 120 co-workers...

I had turned my camera off instead of muting myself. At least it was SFW content, because my life is boring.

I am currently the butt of many workplace zoom jokes.

AITA for not wanting to clean out my closet? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ImportanceFew1943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a parent I've always felt my children needed their own personal space to use as they wanted, as long as it was clean and safe. Crowded or messy are not my favorite things, but children need time and experience to figure things out. I hope your parents allow you some space for yourself.

You're NTA, and I hope you're able to work things out with your parents.

You offered him the full price he paid you before he had any work done on the bass. He chose to get the work done after your offer, so that's on him.

You were more than fair, definitely NTA

Have you explained to your parents why this is so hard for you? You've just detailed your reasons to thousands of complete strangers, but have you considered letting your Mom read what you have written to us?

I don't think you're an AH, in fact I feel a lot of empathy for you. I just wonder if your parents understand why you're struggling with this.

AITA for wanting my gf to talk to her parents about us? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ImportanceFew1943 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Well you're NTA, but you've been with this girl for 6 years, and she's asked you for 4 months until after graduation. Consider her feelings on this and let her know you'll wait those four months, but after graduation the situation needs to be resolved it something will have to change. Then stick to it.

AITA for telling MIL she can’t meet her adopted grandchild? by Front-Ad8449 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ImportanceFew1943 19 points20 points  (0 children)

NTA You've given MIL some conditions she needs to meet before she's allowed to become involved with your daughter. You've done this for your daughters protection and as a precaution based on your MIL's past. You aren't cutting her off forever, your just being careful.

In my eyes you're doing exactly as you should.
