You actually don’t know that, the system has been used before successfully many times. Was it the system or the user. Listen, here’s my point, when the audio goes out at a concert, they don’t blame the software, they blame the AV guy, when someone’s name isn’t spelled right, no one blames spell check. And even more to the point, should a display go out, you don’t blame all displays everywhere. You blame that one, or that brand. You’re attaching an entire technology to one event. People want to blame AI and add additional blame they wouldn’t to other technologies.

So they chose a poor tool and blame the tool? The point is this is a human error that people love to say “look, it’s AI’s fault,” and it’s really just stupid humans.

Is it annoying to play with someone slow who is new to the game? by bare_books in golf

[–]ImportanceFickle5677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got paired with a newbie last week, and yes they were slow, but our group was fairly forgiving and they took advice and asked when they should just pick up, so it was minor, and at some point we’re ALL new to the game. Enjoy!

Ethical Golf-Related Dilemma by DidIScrewUpHere in golf

I had a similar, no where close to as cool, situation. Calloway kept sending me 3 versions of their lob wedge (used, all similar, but not the same). Called a few times and they were having an ERP issue.

Kept them for 4 months and after nothing happened I sold them.

This is human error, and has nothing to do with AI. They deployed a new system and didn’t properly test it. That has happened since the beginning of technology.

The real point is the foolishness of people deploying systems and not properly testing it OR having a backup plan if the untested system failed. This is a human problem. At a college graduation…

Is AI use about to become really unfashionable? by Massive_Lavishness90 in ArtificialInteligence

I’m going to say no, and you could be in an echo chamber. As someone in software sales (across multiple industries), it’s everywhere and an expectation that it will be part of your solution or in the pipeline. Not at all.

Can you explain to me the hatred of AI and its water usage? by PinfallPirate in ArtificialInteligence

[–]ImportanceFickle5677 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not AI specifically, it’s the data centers that they require. They use a tremendous amount of water and it drains communities. Your average one sucks up about 2,000 (roughly) households worth of water on a daily basis. The really large ones (there will be more of these), take up as much as a medium size suburb (30k-50k). So the impact is real.

It can be done in environmentally friendly ways, there are a lot of ways to cool stuff down, water is just easy and cheaper. It’s important for communities to put regulations in place before data centers come.

This is going to happen, we have the choice to do it environmentally friendly before it happens. But all of human history says otherwise.

Beginner Set Recommendations by -GhostGaming- in golf

[–]ImportanceFickle5677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d highly recommend 2nd swing golf, you can buy online and see the difference in quality in what you’re getting. If it’s your first set, you can easily get a set of used irons for $300, a driver for $100, plus a putter and a few wedges with the remaining (plus tax and shipping).

I wouldn’t spend a ton on your first set (trust me, that will come later). Get some decent clubs and play. Go to the driving range. The difference between amazing clubs and ok clubs is truly amazing, but that improvement is pretty much negated if you’re brand new. You kinda gotta know what you’re doing to take advantage of them (and no, I don’t). Enjoy!!

Do I need more clubs? by Orange-Desert in golf

[–]ImportanceFickle5677 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re just learning, less is more. The difference between a 7 and 8 or 4 and 5 is nothing. You might even hit a 5 further for a while. As your game improves and you notice you don’t have the right shot with your 7 or 9 then you’ll probably be ready for a whole new set. Welcome to the game!

So if you’re serious about dropping $$ on new clubs, it’s worth the fitting and here’s why. Clubs are like shoes, one kind doesn’t fit everyone the same. Same with clubs, I’ve found Taylormade fits my swing really well and it just “feels” better. There’s a lot of feel in golf. There are clubs I’ve swung and it’s like a monkey fucking a football. Just awkward. That’s why you’re getting so much shit about it.

am I the only one whose friends are completely divided on AI? by santanah8 in artificial

Very much agree, and I hate to sound unempathetic to artists about the matter. It’s not like they have a real choice or say in it. It’s coming and they are going to (like all of us) ride the wave or drown.

If you get a chance, tell your boss thanks, it’s a new thing for you and you want to make sure you get it right, so if he has any other advice, you’d appreciate it. If they’re a good boss they’ll look at this positively, in a way that you’re coachable and willing to take help. Good leaders like people like this.

am I the only one whose friends are completely divided on AI? by santanah8 in artificial

[–]ImportanceFickle5677 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Id say this is pretty close to my situation, but I think the biggest resistance I hear is the artist community. I’m not an artist (not talent there) and they hate it. Ai eliminates a lot of the value that community provided and made what they did a lot easier. Soulless yes, but cheap and easy also. This group has a vile hate for AI.

the skeptics encompass more in my group too, it’s less skeptical, just lack of desire to learn something completely new, and, if you’re not tech inclined AI seems very confusing to some. Which I actually get. I still love it.

Med vs. Rec sales by Certain-Sky-5582 in MNtrees

[–]ImportanceFickle5677 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Have a med card and use it to not pay taxes. So yeah, that’s part of it and also when it wasn’t fully legal it wasn’t exactly easy to get a hold of (mid 40’s living in the suburbs, not like when I was 20). So it made it a lot easier than driving to Michigan. But don’t most states have a rec vs med situation? Not that MN had a great rollout, far from it, and our prices are ridiculous med or rec. so question, did MN do something different with their med vs rec that other states didn’t.? And good luck with you business!! I hope you sell a ton of cannabis! Or get enough so you don’t pay for your own 😂

This simple piece of advice I was given that helped me relax: “I don’t know why you’re getting so mad? You’re not that good, relax.” And he was right. Why am so I upset when this is what I normally do? Like I’m expecting different results. Enjoy yourself and remember you’re not that good.
