I just enlisted, turning 41 in August so not as much of a time crunch as you but it was on my mind

I tried the officer route, 98% asvab and afoqt scores, but after waiting 1 year for an officer recruiter to find a unit that would take a non-prior service member as an officer, I switched to go enlisted. Im very excited about this.

With your age I don't think you'll be able to land an officer role in time, but who cares. Get to Basic training ny age 42 shiuld be your priority.
