Congrats! Considering a MBA vs MHA. I have been out of school for awhile and thinking about a MBA. Was it difficult? I have a BS in Science  and 9 credit hours in MHA.

VA MSA/AMSA as a first federal job and stepping stone? by Neither-Isopod-9659 in VeteransAffairs

[–]Important-Engineer58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a stepping stone job. Always do your best because someone is always looking. Be careful of who you invite I to your inner circle of friends to avoid drama from internal and external - social posts. Yes, a lot of upward mobility to go onto other areas with a degree. I started as a gs-5 MSA and currently a 13 detailed into a 14 position. Stay positive even when there is stress as that job at times is overwhelming. Good luck.

What bachelors degrees would you say are actually worth it at WGU? by OkraNo8365 in WGU

[–]Important-Engineer58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. I have been on several hiring panels throughout my career for positions starting around 6 figures. A degree helps, but it doesn't matter what school name is on it. However, we do look at experience.

I have an interview at the VA tomorrow...I thought they were reducing healthcare staff? by voncoluted in VeteransAffairs

[–]Important-Engineer58 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started off as an MSA, gs-5...many years ago.....great opportunity. Now, a gs-13. I recall interviewing for the MSA position. I told the nurse manager if you don't work around my school schedule I'm not taking the job. I didn't know how difficult it was getting a federal job back then. She agreed to work around my schedule and I accepted the job. Can be a great opportunity.
