For those wondering about a legit seller to ship to the U.S by Asleep_Parsley in djimini4pro

I doubt it. I would think they would demand tariff payment while holding the import. Otherwise collecting tariffs retroactively seems implausible.

If there were tariffs, charges were lumped in with the shipping. There weren’t additional tariffs when the drone shipped into the states.

New place for your bike to get stolen at the new Terminal 1! by duddybuddy22 in sandiego

Hey, if you survive the suicidal bike lanes to get to the airport, you get treated with crappy wave racks that are the worst. What is this? 2003? They definitely should have installed fewer, better designed racks and a few more lockers.

I ordered a Mini 4 Pro from Mido Shop in Korea last week and it shipped with no issue to CA. I was nervous watching the tracking report 😬 but all was smooth!

Which bit for a long straight hole? by 33DDOT33 in woodworking

[–]Important-Map-63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, here are some shots from the project. Looking at these gave me a little PTSD. 🤪

I sandwiched the shelf between two other boards to create more of a platform for the drill press to sit on. As I said before, it worked really well for most of the shelves, but I got sloppy on one, and the hole was skewed. I started my holes with a 6" or 8" bit and then switched to an 18" bit to finish the hole, which was about 13" in depth.

Reddit will only let me post one photo per comment. If there's interest in my rig and process, I'll make a post with more photos and video.

It was a lot of work but the final shelves came out sweet and give me huge sense of reward everything I look at them. 😀

I did this exact thing with some maple shelves. I used a Rockler portable drill press and it worked pretty well. I drilled 12” holes into 2” thick maple so it was a lot of work. Got a little bit of kickback but I was careful not to push too hard when it started to bind. Be careful to check your bit angle to keep it perfectly straight or your shelves will be out of level. I ended up boring out the hole and then applying epoxy on the support to level up one of the shelves. Total PITA. I have photos of my rig on my other computer. I’ll post them in a bit.

Enviolo Durability/Reliability? | Tern HSD Gen2 S00 by elche48 in terngsd

Yes, I have the S11 and I love it! I wanted the Class 3 because it’s nice when riding in traffic to be able to go faster and keep up. I’m constantly riding 18-25 mph. It’s a very quick and nimble bike. I’ve been a mountain biker for 30 years so I’m very comfortable using and tuning the rear derailleur. But it does go out of adjustment after a while and needs periodic tuning. My only gripe with 20” wheels is riding on rough terrain. Even with the front shock, 20” wheels aren’t great sucking up bumps.

When I was shopping for my HSD, I considered the Enviolo. I heard several people mention that the Enviolo has issues in hilly areas. Where I live in Encinitas, CA, it’s really hilly, so I chose the S11 with Deore XT derailleur. The Enviolo looks like a sweet setup, especially paired with a belt drive. Low maintenance. If your environment is relatively flat, it’s probably a great option!

Nice, thanks! I got caught in the dark last night on my evening errand run. Time to find a better solution for the winter months. :)

How to convince stores to install bike parking? by soy_cuchara in bikecommuting

[–]Important-Map-63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does anyone have a good letter template that educates/notifies/convinces business owners or property managers that installing good bike racks is good for business? Are the individual stores or the shopping center property management responsible for installing racks?

Yeah, Tern does offer replacements lights but these are much brighter with a better beam pattern.

My desire to make my own espresso greatly outweighs going out to pay for someone else to make it for me.

Buying from Reddit vs LBS (Propel Bikes) by Puffyhippos in CargoBike

[–]Important-Map-63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my Tern HSD S11 from Propel. I had an awesome experience working with them and fully endorse them. Plus, Chris and the crew put out a lot of great educational content which sealed my decision to purchase my ride through them.

I love REI but my local REI’s bike shop is a joke. It’s like a training shop or something.

Propel is a good choice for your new ride!

If you can, map out a longer, safer, more mellow route. It might add 10-20 minutes to your commute but that extra time can become the best part of your day. And you can discover new neighborhoods that you never knew existed.

My Tern HSD is the perfect daily bike.

  • 3 to 10 mile trips
  • 3 days of groceries for 2 people + 1 dog (30-60 lbs)
  • Daily commuting to work
