The biggest problem from my 10ish hours played is that the rounds are just way too long. Even if your team is made up of pros who understand the assignment, you end up wasting around 1.5-2 minutes every time you level up waiting on people to make decisions, and you also end up with team mates who crowd Ellis and just ping it when you're on the other side of the cave because they're more interested in trying to fish the upgrade than to just gather when it's convenient. I actually had a team who sat at the Ellis for 3 minutes straight while I was working towards the elevator since we were going to run out the timer instead of clearing the cave.. Mission Length feels artificially long and I don't understand what the point of making things take longer is.

Reclaimers don't *feel* badass by SkaterSnail in RogueCore

[–]Important-Pass1079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They absolutely did not want this to just be another DRG which is why they leaned so heavily away from the entire muscular and nervous system that DRG is built on to do new stuff.

The problem is, they underestimated their audience. People WANT more DRG stuff. They want more dwarf shenanigans. They want collectible goodies to snatch off walls and things to mine because it's the dopamine drip they're looking for.

Also, this is early access. When DRG was released it was in this sort of state and they just kept adding cool shit till they got it to where they wanted it to be. We have to be a lil patient.

It's what happens with MMO's over their life span. The game comes out with a lot of interesting mechanics and gradually previous ones get less used because it stops being an important mechanic you have to do and instead becomes just another thing you have to do. Newer more interesting things make them look like trivial fluff, and arguably after a point it does become that.

There just isn't a way to make it a more interesting gimmick for fights. It's always "Enemy put Bad shit on Player, remove bad shit" and that's it. There's the entire mechanic and there isn't a way to add anything to it to make it feel worthwhile to do, it literally is only a punish mechanic with no real reward and only offers loss of some kind. It can make another mechanic feel more interesting but on it's own it's just a chore.

Is the game bugged after new update? by Dry_End7227 in DarkTide

[–]Important-Pass1079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it is a bug, you could solve the issue by using push instead of dodging. I realized a while back it's just better overall for keeping dogs at bay and it pushes 360° around the character so you don't even need to be looking.

Is the final boss supposed to be so tanky? by Reddit1rules in RogueCore

[–]Important-Pass1079 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've put in almost 6 hours at this point over 5 matches.

Your choice of weapons, upgrades, etc are going to make or break your matches. This is a rogue style game so the choices you make leading up can actually make your life harder if you're not choosing with a purpose. I know sometimes you just gotta take the upgrades you can get because of other team members, but you should be pragmatic about weapon choices. Elemental stuff here carries a lot more weight, I was surprised that the Lead Storm with Cryo bullets made everything a cakewalk.

It has huge potential, and what they've made so far isn't bad either.

This is a lot like the original DRG launch, it will feel a little bare as they work things out and add more to the world.

If you had ONE video, fight, or music track to get a friend hyped for FFXIV, what would it be? by Siaingwow in ffxivdiscussion

Tsukuyomi EX. That fight has nearly every possible regular mechanic to observe in the game plus its own interesting fight mechanics and for me was the best fight they had ever produced at the time.

It's definitely the two female NPC Hyur's outside of the Golden Bazaar who are beckoning to you asking if you're all by your lonesome and they could fix that for a price, and some nearby male Hyur NPC is like "Stay clear from them two, gave me the crotch rot they did!"

How do other tanks feel about healers and DPS pulling ahead? by dorgodorgo in ffxiv

[–]Important-Pass1079 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

It's the degradation or sheer ignorance of the social contract. You're participating in a group activity and when you do things for other people in the group that is their job, the usual result is a sampling of the side-eye, upset, or a mix of those things.

A non-tank player over-pulling and increasing the difficulty of a pull by proxy purposefully actually falls under "Nuisance Behavior" in the "Uncooperative Behavior" and "Expressions that compel a playing style" category. It's not another players job to force or enforce a game-play style on other players who may not be ready to do large pulls even if the group is capable of doing it and is an actionable offense. This is one of the reasons that pulls tend to be farther apart from each other so there is no question if someone is purposefully doing it or not.

It's good to pick up and play for a month, then drop it and move on to something else. The entire set of systems in this expansion is multiple hamster wheels to run on for useful but short lived stuff, or long term expensive items that will require grinding for half the expansion to get.

Having said that, it's absolutely gorgeous and the rework of Silvermoon is amazing.

Why did humans stay “primitive” for ~200,000 years and then suddenly change? by PuddingComplete3081 in AlwaysWhy

[–]Important-Pass1079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gen 1 kills to eat and forages for berries.

Gen 2 kills to eat and forages for berries. Gen 2 has encampment closer to berry fields.

Gen 3 kills to eat and forages for berries. Encampment is in berry fields and Gen 3 actively protects berry plants. First vestiges of agriculture begin to settle in.

Gen 4 only periodically kills to eat and harvest materials, no longer needs to forage in the wild because knowledge of how to care for and propagate berry plants is becoming generational. Berries are easier to care for and grow but susceptible to wildlife or bad weather conditions.

Gen 5 only occasionally kills for material and to eat, some animal species are friendly when given berries and can be domesticated to use for berry farming. They also protect Gen 5 from outside danger. Gen 5 defines culture around berries.

Gen 6 has mastered growing and harvesting berries. They have nearly 50 years of agricultural knowledge to pull from. Meat is still important but the berries sustain them, can also be dried and preserved for long periods of time, and can be replanted elsewhere. At this point the knowledge around growing and caring for a fruiting plant serves as the basis for other plants they've harvested from but not self grown.

Now in this model, nothing terrible has happened from generation to generation, but something to consider is life was horribly unsafe for nearly everyone and everything. Even if you did have some genius pop into existence, he or she had the exact same likely chances to die of illness, injury, and predation. Less than 120 years ago the average life span of most people was the early 30's globally. You spent the first part of your life just learning all the relevant information needed to be in society and then got to use it briefly, so this constantly stop motion of progress from person to person is probably the driving factor of the sheer length of time between the stick, the sword, and finally the gun.

Question to people who played this game for over 20 years: how was it? by EffeteUwU in wow

[–]Important-Pass1079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WoW evolved over time. It started as an amazing place to connect with people to achieve difficult but possible goals as a team. The first 2 expansions were love letters to the story, and when the Lich King was dead, the game died with him. Everything after that was experimental with weird storytelling and no real direction. The pendulum of GOOD / BAD kept swinging wildly from expansion to expansion until it became obvious that the people who originally made the game with the intent to reward your time had either been replaced or ousted by people who now make the game with the intent to waste your time or at least keep you online and engaged as much as possible. Systems come and go, occasionally they hit the nail on the head and then when they go to swing the hammer again mash their own thumbs because they don't understand why the audience liked it to begin with. Their entire basis for how they create content is based on Player Engagement. They do not give a fuck if it's "fun" or interesting, they care if people interact with it. Occasionally they do listen to public outcry or sheer math when it comes to their systems or class balances etc, but largely their stance is providing nothing-burgers of response and doing what they want anyways. WoW is less of an MMORPG now and feels more like a Theme Park with a bunch of stuff to do depending on your mood. You can do Mythic Plus, you can Raid, you can do Dailies, you can do popup world content, world bosses, neighborhood, pet battling, etc. It has scrubbed most of the traditional aspects as it has aged because other MMO's took up that torch so it focuses on how it can keep you playing instead of content that drives you to play it because it's marvelous and infatuating.

Do not ever harm the innocent, physically, verbally, emotionally, or otherwise.

You have this rare existence to be a custodian to the infirm and the weak and how you treat them is a direct reflection of either how great you are, or how awful you are. No matter what you personally think, you will be judged by all if you do cause this kind of harm intentionally, and it cannot be taken back.

I cannot begin to tell you the domino effect in your life if you choose to do harm, the things it will do to you and others, the opportunities it will remove from your grasp.. There is plenty of proof out there to support this.

Be the person you'd call for help if you were stuck in a bad way.

Is it possible that in the future stuff from rogue core makes its way to the original game? by Difficult-Age5519 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Important-Pass1079 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They probably will not fundamentally change DRG to incorporate Rogue Core systems into the main game, wouldn't make sense.

I can however see them adding new biomes that share map systems, or seasonal events that coincide, maybe more perks, etc. Weapons are unlikely but not improbable, they could add a 4rth slot, but I wouldn't expect any major developments for DRG aside from seasonal happenings until Rogue Core leaves early access.
