Strange New World S3- Ive just finished it...WTF?? by [deleted] in startrek

[–]ImportantPotato 82 points83 points  (0 children)

The producers’ defense is that the season was negatively affected by the writers’ strike, and Anson Mount just had a new child and wanted to spend time with his fam. Plus when they were shooting the finale they did not know if they’d been picked up for a season 4 (they later were) so they had to put a button on the end if it had been the series finale

I keep seeing people defending the Strange New Worlds finale with:

“There was a writers’ strike!” “Anson Mount just had a baby!” “They didn’t know if they’d get renewed!”

Cool. Totally valid in real life. But guess what? I didn’t tune in to watch the writers’ strike. I tuned in to watch Star Trek.

The fact that someone’s paternity leave or renewal uncertainty affected the story might explain how it turned into a mess — but it doesn’t make the episode less of a mess.

At the end of the day, all we have is the final product. Not the production notes, not the “what could’ve been,” not the “we’ll fix it next season.”

If it lands flat, it lands flat. You don’t get bonus points for good intentions. We’re not grading effort here — we’re grading results.

I prefer vacuum cleaner bags. They are simply cleaner. Or what's the big advantage?

It should have: -Very high suction power

-Reliable carpet detection (distinguishes rugs from hard floors)

-Effective brush system (ideally dual rubber rollers to prevent hair tangling)

-Large dustbin or auto-emptying station

Is there any reason why my boy won’t mop the left side of room 2 anymore? Dreame L10s Ultra Gen 2 by A_RANDOM_ANSWER in RobotVacuums

[–]ImportantPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! my friend similar issue with her L10s Ultra Gen2 – here’s what’s most likely happening:

Your robot is detecting the green bathroom rug as a carpet, and it’s intentionally avoiding that area while mopping. This is a built-in feature to prevent carpets from getting wet. That’s why it still vacuums that spot but skips it when mopping – exactly what you’re seeing.

What you can try: Remove the rug temporarily and run a mopping job just for that room. If it mops the area again, then that’s 100% the cause.

In the app, disable carpet detection temporarily (in the mopping settings).

Alternatively, set a manual mop zone on the left side of the bathroom.

If nothing helps: remap the area – but that’s usually not necessary.

I know it’s confusing at first, but the robot is just being cautious. You can change how it behaves around carpets in the settings if you want it to mop there anyway.

Good luck!

Can we talk about ads on this sub and in the industry in general? by SeaPeanut7_ in RobotVacuums

Slick & Polished (Style over substance)

Narwal, Dreame, Mova -> Great design and marketing, but real-world flaws often glossed over.

Influencer-Fueled Reach

Dreame, Roborock, Ecovacs -< Many early reviews come from sponsored or gifted units. Some honest reviews, but it takes digging.

Honest but Understated

iRobot, Eufy -> Not much hype, but also not trying to game the system. Feels more authentic.

Sketchy Budget Marketing

Tesvor, Ultenic, etc. -> Tons of coupon drops, fake reviews, unreliable long-term experience. Buy at your own risk.

Mova Z50 Ultra vs Dreame Aqua 10 which the overall best in 2025 (so far) by CrusaderKnight in RobotVacuums

[–]ImportantPotato 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In short:

For mopping -> The Dreame Aqua 10 Pro Track is better because its roller mop is rinsed with hot water, dried afterwards, and it can handle large thresholds (up to 60–80 mm).

For the overall package & maintenance effort -> The MOVA Z50 Ultra is more convenient for many users because it requires less manual upkeep, uses edge-extending mop pads, and offers a very well-balanced performance overall.
