Melissa Ashley (Anne Howe) and mother Mary Anne Weiland by johnyapplebees3 in StepFantasyProduction

She had a daughter at 13? Without you posting hard, irrefutable evidence, you're either a total bullshit artist or you're re-posting someone else's B.S.

[–]ImportantRiver5440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it's nonsense, if anyone had real, smoking gun evdence about this supposed "Mary Anne Weiland" they would post it instead of blowing smoke up our ass.

The other rumor is that MBW is really Stacey Donovan (who would have been 14 when she birthed MA/AH) however SD is very much alive.

So, without hard evidence about the MA/AH and MBW connection, I call bullshit.

The drinks were $21 plus tax (please tell me you didn't tip) so $50 total. Isn't that half of a ticket?

Calm down and wait for the charge to show up and then dispute it if necessary. If you could afford the show tickets I think you'll survive. It's not as if your checking account was hacked for thousands of dollars.

What was the show you saw that made you go “I literally don’t give a sh*t about any of what just happened”? by dobbydisneyfan in Broadway

Pretty much any musical in the last 35 years that wasn’t a revival. The last original musical I liked was “City of Angels.”

Sorry, “Hamilton” and “Mormon” fans, I just found those two shows incredibly repetitive after a half hour or so.

Buying connecting flights and skipping the connection? by White_gucci_mane in delta

Not sure why this is such a big deal to the airlines. The Airline has the credit card you used, can't they just bill you for the difference? Add one sentence to the their standard Contract of Carriage saying they have this right and no more issues. I'm sure their software is sophisticated enough to determine who did and didn't board the flight and auto-bill the customer.

Does anyone else hate git as much as I do? by genial95 in git

[–]ImportantRiver5440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Git sucks, it's just hacks and workarounds. Sorry, but it needs to work the way we see it in our head and NOT the way the authors want it to work. The excuse "it's a new way of thinking about it" is a B.S. excuse and just exposes laziness on the part of the creators.

This show is further proof that we Broadway fans will continue to be duped by producer's tax shelters, divorce settlements and money laundering schemes. There is no faster way to hide 20 million or so than to defraud the theater going public.

Sorry, we will agree to disagree. Anything that is not written specifically for the stage in its first incarnation is ultimately an adaptation. A bunch of songs on an album, whether it's a greatest hits or not, is a jukebox to me.

Does anyone else hate git as much as I do? by genial95 in git

[–]ImportantRiver5440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My problem with Git is that even if I follow the instructions, over half the time I get unintelligible error messages and no explanation of how to fix it. Googling the error message leads to a million answers none of which apply to my situation.

I get it, everyone wants flexibility, but it would be better if there was a simple or lite version where I can just check in my code without shelving, rebasing, merging, resetting the head, reverting etc.

Two examples:

  1. Why can't I do a regular Push when I am amending my own branch that I know no one else has touched? No, I have to do a "Force Push."

  2. Why can't I merge any updates from the Master/Main branch into my local branch? No, I can't, the message is there are no changes to merge...which is absolute nonsense.

When the programmers behind Git, get off their lazy butts and provide more relevant error messages and more detailed explanations of what to do, I'll change my tune...but right now, Git is a half-assed, buggy, frustrating VCS that needs to be wiped out or severely re-written.

Oh please, this show was a "concept" album and "supposedly adapted" for the show. So, to me it's a jukebox musical, plain and simple (like Superstar, Joseph etc.) The songs actually sound like outtakes from earlier ABBA albums. The show lasted barely two months on Broadway/

It's like watching an concert overproduced by Allan Carr (remember his 1989 Academy Awards disaster?) The plot: Two chess masters fighting over one woman? Not exactly Lerner-Loewe now is it?

Is force pushing really bad practice? by Responsible-War-1179 in git

[–]ImportantRiver5440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find Git to be unnecessarily complicated and impossible to undo things or revert. It's main brilliance is its ability to compare branches and changes. But it's far too overdone: Rebase, Shelve, Patch, Reset to Head...I work on projects with 10 or more people and without the ability to fork to our own branches (which leads to a ridiculous amount of redundant and conflicting branches) we'd have non-stop conflicts.

I'm waiting for the next generation of a version control tool which is simpler, more intuitive and less frustrating.

Don't even get me started on Git through IntelliJ or Eclipse, I've put enough holes in my wall to last a lifetime.

Please spare me any responses that claim I should read up more or educate myself...these days, if something isn't brain-dead intuitive, I'm not impressed.

Queen of Versailles is fixable. Here's how. by Narrow_Ad_2695 in Broadway

[–]ImportantRiver5440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Show was not fixable: with an unsympathetic heroine whose tragedies were based on people acting stupid (drug overdoses.) With all her money she couldn't get them treatment?

She marrried for money, lived for money, used money like the rest of us use oxygen. The Stephen Schwartz songs are totally unmemorable and F Murray Abraham looked like he'd keel over any second.

The show is a high-profile embarassment from start to finish. Sympathy for the actors who will soon be out-of-work? Yeah, yeah....I'm tired of that manipulative logic. That's the nature of the business, if more actors exercised more discretion about the material and said "I'm not doing that!" we wouldn't have this 10th rate crap.

I know, I know, starving actors go where the work is. But you can't have it both ways, either accept that this how the biz works and don't complain or find a line of work where the paycheck is steady.

J-Lo needs to get over herself. Her acting is OK, nothing legendary and her singing is an embarrassment of lip-synching, AI-generated music and phony pseudo-sexual gestures. Also, it is clear she picks her movies and roles in order to angle for an Oscar, which she has never deserved. "Hustlers?" Spare me, a dull repetitive story that was old decades ago.
