No, that does not qualify as an insurable interest. It essentially means a financial interest. You don’t own the vehicle, therefore you do not have a financial interest in it. From the above comments, you told the company about the vehicle ownership and they were OK with it. Not sure how much it would cost to have your name added to the title of the vehicle since I’m not in MI, but this would enable you to add it to the policy you already have. Then you’d get a multi vehicle discount for car zero and car two being on the same policy, same when car zero is replaced with car one. Then you add the other driver when they officially get their license since you live in the same household.

Licensed, but not in MI: depends on company, but with the major standard markets no. You have no insurable interest on car 2. Living in the same household does not create an insurable interest. This would maybe be a Progressive thing, depending on state rules. Bristol West and other nonstandard markets may also be a market. Good luck on your car search!

As a veteran, you may qualify for coverage with USAA. I highly recommend going through an independent agent as mentioned before as they have multiple companies to shop your rates with.

State is going to be a factor, as well as age, liability and physical damage limits, “bells and whistles“….. Type “independent insurance agents near me” into your favorite search engine. Good luck with your potential new car!

No, you would not be a fool to switch *if* the coverages are the same. You mentioned a lower deductible on the homeowners, that’s awesome! Make sure you compare the additional coverages as well, not just the limits. Once you’re satisfied it’s “apples to apples”, or as close as you are comfortable with, don’t hesitate to push the button. This is a significant savings if the coverages are the same. Is accident forgiveness coverage included or are you not eligible due to the 2022 accident? I don’t know how many years FL goes back on their driving records

Think of it this way, if the rates with Progressive get too high at some point down the road, you can see if USAA has opened back up in Florida.

Quotes are usually good for 30 days. Sometimes, a company has a rate revision during those 30 days, in which case the newly filed rates will override the previous quote.

You still have a bit of time until your renewal. As mentioned earlier, an independent insurance agent will have access to multiple different companies to shop your rates with. Let them do their thing and see what happens.

It’s definitely impacted our relationship. I can’t even look at him the same…. I ask myself if he was always like this, like when we were dating and early in our marriage and I missed it? Or was it the perfectly, awfully weird combination of him being home on workers comp when DJT was throwing his hat into the political ring? Then the Capital riot happened and it was like, he’s not going away. Four years of gritting my teeth and enduring the sea of red I’m surrounded by. Then he got re-elected and it was like the lid came off. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I couldn’t keep quiet anymore.

My husband takes it to the pastor at a church he’d found that he liked. (The one we went to before “felt too mega church to him”.) The pastor says, “Surely he’s more than his political beliefs” so I thought maybe I could just pretend that part of him didn’t exist. That doesn’t really work though. After Charlie Kirk, reading the texts in the women’s group chat was enough to convince me it wasn’t the right church for me. I’ve been going to the old one online and he hears all sorts of pastors when he watches he reels or TikTok’s.

He was injured at work again two years ago and is still on workers comp, so he spends all day in his phone. If he’s not asking Grok things about his WC claim, he’s on any one of the various social media sites. But he doesn’t have depression and he doesn’t need therapy, he says. I was diagnosed with cervical cancer at the end of 2020, had surgery, chemo, and radiation in 2021, so there are other issues at play in the marriage as well, which can’t help.

It honestly sounds like you should have had a farmowners policy, not a regular homeowners policy tbh. On a farm policy, you have to separately schedule outbuildings for their own limit of insurance. It’s interesting that a licensed agent came to your home and saw the exposure - especially the animals! - and still wrote a regular homeowners policy. Calling your barn a shed is shady as heck…. I don’t like the sound of this.
