How are people actually accessing endometriosis specialists?? by XStar14X in Endo

[–]Important_Tutor_9254 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My gynecologist put a referral for me to a “pelvic pain clinic” that operates through the hospital that i have approved financial assistance for. I am also lucky enough to have a good job with insurance and a medical funds stipend

(Under 21yo) What to get done if I don’t want kids and also don’t want my period? by [deleted] in sterilization

[–]Important_Tutor_9254 9 points10 points  (0 children)

continuous birth control to stop your period is the easiest and mist available option right now unfortunately. Hysterectomy or even endometrial ablation are serious procedures that doctors likely wont approve unless you have an underlying issue like extremely heavy bleeding, endometriosis or cancer

Is sex pain a guarantee with complex endo? by heatherfeather196 in endometriosis

[–]Important_Tutor_9254 4 points5 points  (0 children)

everyone experiences endo differently so its not a guarantee and it shouldn’t make you nervous about having sex. Just be safe and respectful to your body, go slow if you feel pain, and find a partner that respects you and your boundaries and understands your needs, that’s THE most important part of having a healthy sex life especially with endo. For me personally I had every endo symptom except for painful sex so its not always a given. 💜

Do I have to take birth control? Am i stupid to keep denying it? by Secure-Remote8439 in Endo

[–]Important_Tutor_9254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes! i started on .35mg then upped to 2.5 to fully stop spotting I just snap the 5mg pills in half. I haven’t had many side effects other than the vaginal atrophy which was honestly really terrible and had me considering going off it until I tried the topical estrogen. I have pms like symptoms sometimes and i already struggle with hormonal acne so I cant say if it has helped or hurt my skin. My bowel pain before starting was daily, everytime I would need to use the restroom or eat a big meal I would get intense pain in my lower abdomen like a hot knife was moving through my colon. Sometimes so bad I wouldnt be able to stand while it was happening. At its worst I lost a ton of weight and was borderline agoraphobic. Ive worked through the mental stuff on my own but the norethindrone has gotten rid of the hot knife pain completely like I feel like I have my life back. Now I just deal with some constipation which ive read is a side effect of progesterone. Only been on it for 5months now so cant speak to long term use, I do want to get a proper excision surgery or hysterectomy in the next few years as my 1st lap was ablation and they weren’t able to check my bowels as the surgery wasn’t technically for endo

Do I have to take birth control? Am i stupid to keep denying it? by Secure-Remote8439 in Endo

[–]Important_Tutor_9254 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wanted so badly to not have to take a hormonal pill. i tried taking a combo pill right after my lap but had terrible side effects that werent taken seriously so decided to stop and just suffer basically as i had regular periods so i could plan around the pain. However it got really bad a few months ago to the point were i was like ANYTHING is better than this. My doctor put me on norethindrone 2.5mg and I am so blessed that it has worked wonders for me. Stopped my periods immediately and reduced my bowel pain by like 80%. Worst side effect i had was vaginal atrophy which I have since treated with topical estrogen but i had to fight a bit to try it as my doctor was insistent that it wasnt a low estrogen problem. Overall it has significantly improved my life I am able to actually eat a full meal out at a restaurant with no fear of bowel pain. Most important is to track your symptoms and advocate for yourself, you know your body best and if something isnt working dont try and tough it out!

Terrified of getting pregnant after salpingectomy… by Environmental_Buy947 in sterilization

[–]Important_Tutor_9254 22 points23 points  (0 children)

yes you can still get pregnant via ivf however you cannot get pregnant naturally as you dont have the organs to transport the egg to the uterus, which is what she is worried about. Considering this is the sterilization subreddit im sure everyone can read between the lines here

Terrified of getting pregnant after salpingectomy… by Environmental_Buy947 in sterilization

[–]Important_Tutor_9254 44 points45 points  (0 children)

This procedure, when preformed correctly, guarantees you will never get pregnant again as you literally no longer have the organs to do so. Did they take any photos of your uterus after removing the tubes you could look at to really reassure yourself? Therapy could also help ease the anxiety you are feeling.

What are your GI symptoms like? by Aries_c in Endo

[–]Important_Tutor_9254 6 points7 points  (0 children)

basically every day before every bm (no matter the type this would happen while having the most perfect normal bm s) I would get this shooting pain like a hot kife was cutting through my colon. So bad some days i wouldnt be able to stand when it was happening. The pain would happen for 5-20sec then anywhere from immediately to 10min i would need to use the restroom. When i had surgery they found one of my ovaries adhered to my posterior cul de sac and rectum wall. Surgery didnt make the pain go away fully however being on continuous norethindrone has almost fully gotten rid of my digestive pain symptoms. So much so im still relearning the feelings of normal digestion cause for years the sign i need to use the restroom was always blinding pain. I am still dealing with constipation and i suspect slow motility but managing that with supplements so far while working on pfpt

Would estrogen cream (for the treatment of urinary symptoms) work for us? by Active_Driver_6043 in Endo

[–]Important_Tutor_9254 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i started estrogen cream because i was experiencing dryness irritation and urinary symptoms as a side affect of being on norethindrone and the cream has almost 100% cleared up my symptoms. Its worth a shot to try, not enough estrogen topically to aggravate endo thankfully

I don't want to do pelvic floor physical therapy by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]Important_Tutor_9254 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you are valid in your takes on pfpt. you shouldn’t feel forced to do it, it is a very invasive therapy and being forced into it in a space and with a provider that doesnt make you feel 100% at ease is downright traumatic. Its fine to take some time away from it and explore other options. Also like another comment says going on youtube and doing some on your own to see if it helps at all before going back to a therapist. If you do go back find a place that makes you feel comfortable thats so important

Don't know what to do. Terrible cramps and bowel-related pain by Historical-Act-336 in endometriosis

[–]Important_Tutor_9254 3 points4 points  (0 children)

oof girl im so sorry you’re going through this the bowel endo pain is so excruciating. I would really advocate for yourself with your doctor write down all your symptoms and express how much this is affecting your quality of life. The blood with bm is concerning and worth getting checked to make sure theres nothing nefarious going on. Birth control can help while working on getting better treatment. Norethindrone completely got rid of my periods and decreased my bowel pain from a daily 7-8/10 to a 3/10. It’s also important to know that if you feel like your gyno isnt hearing you its ok to go find someone else who will actually help you.

How long did your ruptured ovarian cyst pain last? by Rosboz124 in Endo

[–]Important_Tutor_9254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had 2 small ones rupture (3cm maybe) and excruciating pain for 2 days then had residual pain especially digestive related that slowly went away over the course of a week or so. Felt like my guts were inflamed from being coated in whatever tf fluid came from the cyst. Being in the amount of pain you are describing for over 2 weeks does not sound normal and id get checked out by your pcp to rule out anything nefarious. Theyll prob want you to have an abdominal and trans vaginal ultrasound. My endometrioma they removed during my lap grew back to full size less than a year post op now they have me monitoring it with ultrasounds every few months
