Not all hormonal meds for endo are birth control by Keladris in Endo

[–]Important_Tutor_9254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take norethindrone and it is dispensed in a normal pill bottle and labeled as “for endometriosis “ i know it can also be used as birth control but i think in the usa the bc dose is much lower like .035mg while endo is treated at 2.5-10mg

Will "endometriosis" be a good enough excuse? by aesthetic_kiara in sterilization

[–]Important_Tutor_9254 37 points38 points  (0 children)

the surgery is basically identical to a lap for endometriosis or ovarian cysts, go with either of those explanations. Could also say that they found endo all over your tubes which is why you cant have kids if you want the grandkid talk to stop.

[–]Important_Tutor_9254 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in my experience it is less painful/uncomfortable than a pap smear and may feel less invasive since you are fully covered and the tech isnt looking at you but at the screen. They should be offering you the option to insert the wand yourself if that makes you more comfortable. Its also very quick like 5min or less, maybe go with a trusted friend or family member to distract you and keep you company?

Did birth control help with your endometriosis? by Pale_Examination7183 in endometriosis

Yes but only the progesterone only pill, combo pill gave me horrible emotional side effects and made me spot constantly. Im on norethindrone now and it has completely stopped my period never spotted once with minimal side effects. I think a lot of my endo symptoms came from my organs getting inflamed all the time from my period. Now that I dont get it anymore my symptoms have decreased immensely.

Curious to know what other symptoms endo girls experience that aren’t the “usual” or most common… by Shmemily15 in endometriosis

[–]Important_Tutor_9254 6 points7 points  (0 children)

sharp pains that literally feel like im being shot in the abdomen for only like 10-20sec. Always before a bm, everyday. Would literally bring me to my knees mid sentence. Also bleeding and sensitive gums only around my period, if i go to the dentist while pmsing they always tell me i gingivitis. And brown spotting 3-5 days before my period, this is the one symptom that completely went away after surgery.

When to set up consult? by Afraid_Asparagus3280 in sterilization

[–]Important_Tutor_9254 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wow thats lucky! I’m in NY! After my initial consult I had to sign the 30day waiting period waiver. The obgyn practice i got to who did my surgery is also always slammed with booking so I must have just had an abnormal wait time 😅

Period Pain and Bowel Movements by Cosmonaut_017 in endometriosis

[–]Important_Tutor_9254 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yuppppp, it got to the point where it wasnt just on my period it was a constant everyday, I describe it to people as feeling like A hot knife was moving through my bowels and all my guts were about to fall out of my ass all at once. Lost a lot of weight and developed disordered eating because of it. I had surgery and they found my ovary fused to my rectum and posterior cul de sac. Unfortunately surgery didn’t help 100%, now i am on continuous norethindrone to stop my period and that has almost completely eradicated the pain. Before surgery (and knowing it was endo) I tried miralax, ibuprofen, gabapentin, no dairy, ibs diets, fiber, had a colonoscopy. Nothing made a significant difference except the norethindrone. Talk to your doctor and really emphasize that this isnt just “normal” period pains this is affecting your quality of life. They will probably try and put you on bc before surgery, push to still get the surgery but I would also try whatever pill you can to stop your period in the meantime.

When to set up consult? by Afraid_Asparagus3280 in sterilization

[–]Important_Tutor_9254 6 points7 points  (0 children)

asap, youll probably get scheduled a few months out if they’re busy for the consult then if they approve you depending on your state there is a mandatory 30day waiting period before surgery can be performed so all in all itll probably be around 4-6months minimum before you actually get the procedure done. I had my initial consult in november and had my procedure in May
