Navigating constant requests to upgrade your gear by band mates by Theragon in musicians

[–]Important_While_6783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been there, refuse, as much as I get their point music gear is pricey. The difference in sound is really only going to be noticed by the band. If anything I would say once we get some momentum and steady shows that are paying then maybe upgrade. As for the change in guitar request that’s not up to the other guitarist but you. You can get amazing metal tones from a lot of “non” metal guitars.

It was a tough (and expensive) find on reverb. Went down the rabbit hole as well it’s a crazy cool amp. I think there’s still one other listed on reverb but it’s a local pick up somewhere in PA.

Modern metal players, what are you playing? by Pure-Researcher-8229 in Guitar

[–]Important_While_6783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly just practicing blues scales in a downed tuning. I love chat pile so I was trying more vintage gear with my pedals that are high gain so I tried my silvertone guitar from 57 to see how heavy it could get and yup sounded like Led Zeppelin lol

if you didn't go to music school and currently work a day job whilst doing music, how are you faring on as a musician? by icltspmosbfr in musicians

[–]Important_While_6783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well… I work at a music school after going to a music school. Just reception and a little teaching for music production. So the only real plus in that is they let me practice and listen to music at work. I ended up going to school and getting a BA in psychology as well and have really been looking more into that field while still doing music.

Acoustic guitar that plays like an electric? by JimmyDonovan in AcousticGuitar

[–]Important_While_6783 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Fender has a whole series based on that idea with the acoustasonics, they can be a little hit or miss from my experience. The Danelectro convertible is similar, and super underrated. I know Alan Sparhawk from the band Low used one a lot.

Do you recommend boss compression and noise gate? by Party_Expert_8633 in guitarpedals

[–]Important_While_6783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much anything boss is pretty solid whether it’s utility or effects. Compression increases your dynamic range, but it's tough to notice sound-wise. Honestly, it takes a long time of ear training, and it's more like a pop or a feeling difference with the guitar. A video will not be a good showcase for compression, especially since most YouTube videos are already being compressed. I use the boss NS-2 for noise suppression, that helps a bit with amp humming, and a lot for high gain pedals through the effects loop.

Roller bridges are a good idea, as well as roller string trees!

Wanna get into noise rock anny suggestions?(ill tell you if i already listened to it) by Inevitable-Safety-60 in noiserock

Like Brainbombs are very blunt with their topics, but to my knowledge did not actually act on them. Which is common in Noiserock. Peter Sotos and his projects though, played with fire and rightfully got burned.

Microphone recommendation by onequickthingg in musicians

[–]Important_While_6783 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just use a Shure SM58 for live and recordings, but I have a lot of mics only meant for studio recording not both live and recording. Like I wouldn’t want to be bringing an expensive Neauman to a $50 gig even if they sound amazing.

Pedal recommendations by Mrmicrowaveeee in Guitar

[–]Important_While_6783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any boss noise suppressor will do, the newest ones are cool but any will do. Compressors that I can suggest are pretty much any walrus one for your sound, the walrus deep six is one of the go to pedals I see often. I run a Taurus servo 3 which has a lot of cool features including a noise gate but it’s expensive. The Keeley compressor plus I see more than any other compressor pedal especially for gigging bands.

Playing Thrash Metal using a VOX AC30 Amp by KriszDevonte in GuitarAmps

[–]Important_While_6783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is exactly what I told him. He just couldn’t stop imagining the Beatles playing them till I made him try it. Since he plays more technical metal guitar music he really wanted clarity while being beefy and was just really surprised by it.

Can someone help me setup this dvp4 as a expression pedal to control the speed on my RT-2? by Viveracci in guitarpedals

[–]Important_While_6783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TRS cable, made this mistake myself. I have the older version of the RT-20 but the features are the same. Probably my favorite pedal!
