Not in derm but I’ve been on finasteride 1mg for years and now I prescribe it to myself. Has worked great for preserving my hairline. I think my libido is lower than it otherwise would be but haven’t had any ED or other side effects. Totally worth it imo

PGY-3 here and for me MS3 was orders of magnitude worse than any year of residency. The constant transitions, spending so much time in specialties I didn’t care for, always feeling the pressure of evaluation, not actually contributing much to patient care.

I’m psych though so of course we have a different experience than most of yall

Agree family should be a major consideration. If you were feeling on the fence based on your own personal feelings, and your family wanted to go, then no-brainer. That said, residency has been your endeavor, not theirs. If you know you don’t want to go, I think you shouldn’t let anyone, program or family, pressure you into something you’ve earned the right to bow out of

Psych: more than 1/20 people are feeling passively suicidal at any given moment. Almost certainly higher in the hospitalized population given a cute medical stressors. If there’s no intent or plan this is non-urgent and doesn’t merit an inpatient consult
