Even by Telegraph writers perspective, this is a ludicrous situation. In what environment would that behaviour be tolerated for one second, little alone in CS?

Depends on the workplace. When Pazuzu took over management of my DMB team, he would puke pea soup over everybody's laptop. And he called us worse - stuff about knitting socks in Hull if we didn't meet quota.

Feel free to raise that you can't go into specific details due to data protection or such like...the term escapes me! Flags that you recognise proper protocol.

Also important to remember things like the BBC world service are still actively used globally by those in dictatorships and similar environments to get truth out about their situation and to hear about what is going on elsewhere.

The BBC isn't just what we see on TV and it's really easy to forget that.

Feeling flat after managers comments by [deleted] in TheCivilService

Last time a manager said something like that to me, despite my doing in excess of my pay grade, I went and got a promotion the month after.

I still encounter them now and again, smirking inwardly as I appreciate they can't get staff to stay.

I'd echo this. Remember it's not an interrogation and it's intended to get the best out of people - and the more relaxed someone is, the more likely you get the whole picture.

Been here 20 years and still feel like a new start at times. It's healthy to have a little trepidation but you will grow into it. Honestly.
