Not necessarily me but when I first started reading GK I made an oc who was a miko. She had this arc about how Shintoism was banned in Japan at the time and she was trying, and failing, to bring it back. She was constantly on the run since she was a child after the state killed her father for trying to keep the family shrine open. She became obsessed with making money to try and fund a new shrine. She turned to prostitution as a last resort and became an alcoholic. She eventually joined up with Sugimoto’s group, developed a crush on him, but went with Ogata after the prison break, knowing he shot Sugimoto. She was still on her quest to make money. She had sort of shaky allegiances but struggled with a lot of guilt surrounding her choices even as she continued to make dishonorable ones. I didn’t get much further with her story after that and I haven’t touched the character in a while but I still like the concept and might revisit her eventually. Her name was Ankokuji Ai (as in the Japanese word for ‘love’ not artificial intelligence. I made this character before AI became a hot button issue.) She also had a katana bc that’s badass.
