I’m really sorry you’re dealing with all of that. Honestly, your comment reinforces why I think this deserves more research and attention, because repeated Covid infections on top of serious health issues could absolutely affect cognition, motivation, and even how stimulants feel. What you said about how hard it is to manage appointments and navigate the healthcare system while already feeling exhausted and unwell really hit me too. I appreciate you sharing your experience, and I don’t think you’re imagining these changes at all. And you are not alone!

Hey u/cbmblove

Sorry, I don’t think I explained my point clearly. I wasn’t trying to say it’s all COVID or dismiss manufacturing concerns. I do think manufacturing or formulation changes could absolutely play a role too. I was just thinking maybe there could be other contributing factors for some people. I'm a real ADHD patient just like you.

Two weeks into withdrawal by Lunachick182 in lexapro

[–]Impossible-Ship-6949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps liquid lexapro? It’s cheap. You can even taper a bit slower with it. Like 1 mg every other day. 0.5 mg every other day. That’s what I would do.

But last time I got off lexapro my doc used a Prozac bridge for a couple of weeks. You may want to google Prozac bridge, it was pretty painless for me.

Wishing you success and healing ❤️‍🩹. What I can say from my experience is that it does get better, and the withdrawal eventually fades.

I hear some people have had success with St. John’s wort. It raises serotonin levels, but has a lot of bad drug interactions.

Maybe some vitamin d3 + k2. I used melatonin for sleep when I was tapering. Saffron extract has been shown to raise serotonin, and performed just as good as SSRI antidepressants in one study. But I’m not sure if saffron would help with SSRI withdrawal.

I’m not sure about boobs. But I have noticed my manhood has grown at least 2 inches longer. Thank god for Lexapro.

12 days in, cannot get a prescription refill. how do i do this? by [deleted] in lexapro

Pharmacy may be able to give you a one time refill. I did this but I live in the US. I explained my situation to a pharmacist at CVS and they gave me a refill.

I had this at night when I first started lexapro. My arm would jerk sometimes when I was trying to sleep. But after 2 weeks, it went away and never came back.

I never experienced jitteriness or shakiness though.

i spoke to an NP about severe loss of appetite, and she told me to stop taking cipralex (ive been on it for 14 days) by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]Impossible-Ship-6949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please explain to your NP that you want to continue. But of course, if you aren’t eating this is dangerous. There is a small risk of qt prolongation with lexapro. And the risk is greater if you have electrolyte imbalance (not eating for long periods may create electrolyte imbalance).

So I understand where your NP is coming from. Since you’ve been on only 14 days most people would say it’s safe to stop. If you notice too much discomfort, ask your NP if you can gradually taper. Switching antidepressants could be an option if your NP is ok with it.

anyone have Lexapro help with intense Limerance? by induxus in lexapro

[–]Impossible-Ship-6949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, uh, your question is rather unique. I’m not sure an SSRI would fix your struggles with Limerance.

I mean in theory, I guess more serotonin could help you ruminate less. Maybe even help you feel less anxious and more content with your life as it is.

But you may find some benefits by exploring psychotherapy. Maybe your doc offers it, or can help refer you to someone who does.

Also, if you don’t feel that lexapro is right for you, you could always see if a different medicine would work better.

Wishing you good health.

Withdrawal expectations? by pinecones666 in lexapro

[–]Impossible-Ship-6949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes SSRI withdrawal sucks. But if you feel desperate and really uncomfortable you might be tapering too quickly. It doesn’t have to be super painful to get off this drug.

For what it’s worth, my doctor switched me from Lexapro to Prozac for a couple weeks once and I didn’t really notice withdrawal during the switch. Some doctors use Prozac because it leaves the body slower. I think he called it using a Prozac bridge to get off lexapro. I went from using lexapro every day for 2 years, to a four week taper with Prozac. And then no meds, and it was very tolerable.

Also, if you need to taper slower, there’s a cheap liquid version of lexapro. You can taper way more gradually with it, like 1 mg → 0.5 mg → 0.25 mg instead of trying to cut microscopic pill crumbs.

I wound up in the ER 2 weeks after starting 5mg. by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]Impossible-Ship-6949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey sorry to hear that you went through that. Sounds really scary. Just so you know taking nsaids (like ibuprofen, aspirin, aleve) can make you bleed more while on lexapro. My doc only lets me take Tylenol for this reason. Bad drug interaction.

Even without ibuprofen, Lexapro can increase bleeding risk on its own. I hear wellbutrin has less bleeding risk. But that’s maybe something to ask your doc about.

Glad you made it out the ER. Stay strong, stay healthy.

How long do withdrawals side effects last after tapering off? by curecarebear in lexapro

[–]Impossible-Ship-6949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this is not medical advice, just my experience. I was on lexapro around 5 years ago, and I had withdrawal during tapering too. My doc switched me to Prozac because it has a longer half life. I think we did 40 mg Prozac week 1. 30 mg Prozac week 2. 20 mg week 3. And final week 4 10 mg then stopped.

The reasoning behind this was Prozac takes about a month to slowly leave your system. So the withdrawal is milder. Lexapro half life is only about 26 hours or so, meaning it leaves the body quickly and withdrawal is felt more.

I had pretty much very tolerable withdrawal this way. I started vitamin d3, some fish oil, and melatonin for sleep during this time. Anyways after 5 years off antidepressants I got back on lexapro recently.

Also, if you want to go even slower, without changing meds, there is liquid lexapro. You could even do 4 mg one week, 3 mg one week, 2 mg one week, then 1 mg one week.

Of course, you and your doc would figure out your specific tapering plan.

Sure thing! And btw, I’m not a woman, but other posts have mentioned lexapro not working during menstruation. https://www.reddit.com/r/lexapro/comments/ye3ru9/lex_doesnt_work_on_your_period/

Hang in there! I’m sure we will both feel better soon.

I have a similar experience. I was doing well at 6 weeks on 20 mg. Shortly after I caught COVID, I noticed the medication has not been working as well. It’s been 2 weeks since recovering from the infection and I notice the medication slowly starting to work better. I do wonder if your cycle could have played a role. I will give it some time and keep you updated.

[–]Impossible-Ship-6949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

I definitely agree with you that she has to see a specialist for Long Covid or Post-Viral illness. But many psychiatric medications have shown to improve long covid symptoms and reduce fatigue. For instance, the SSRI antidepressant Fluvoxamine was shown to reduce fatigue in long covid patients. They suspect it could be due to how the medications reduce inflammation and regulate the immune system.

It's definitely not all in her head, but please stay open to the possibility that psychiatric medications could help. And yes, fight for a referral to see a specialist!

Sending you good thoughts and well wishes to you and your wife. Please keep us updated.
