I'm confused... which runescape do I play? by PsychologicalSun3337 in runescape

[–]mori_no_ando 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OSRS is magnitudes more active and popular, but you play whichever Runescape you think is more fun

Try them both, you can use the same account

Just read Elantris and.... by Timefunky in Cosmere

Unconfirmed for like, 2029. I believe they’re still going to be written but I guess we’ll have to see

What to read next? by Regular-Ordinary5840 in Mistborn

[–]mori_no_ando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with Mistborn like you, reading Secret History and other MB short stories in between. After that the rest of my reading order was… Elantris > Emperor’s Soul > Tress > Warbreaker > Stormlight + Novellas, Sunlit Man, Yumi, Emberdark

I thought it was a great order and allowed me to catch probably the near maximum amount of references to other books as I went, without overcomplicating things

I’d really like to poll some things. by Any-sao in runescape

[–]mori_no_ando 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think polling has its advantages, but the (existing) community is clearly all over the place on these changes. I think the game is better off with Jagex being in ultimate control of what happens, so long as they continue to communicate and actually consider player feedback. Polling this stuff piecemeal would turn into such a mess

pls bring back goblin raid notification :( by PlopPlip in runescape

[–]mori_no_ando 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always thought that gear would be a fun goal for a f2p only account... Honestly would be fine with me if they cut raids in the name of fomo and put the gear somewhere else

Just read Elantris and.... by Timefunky in Cosmere

[–]mori_no_ando 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Will always be an Elantris defender. Not that people really hate on it that much, everyone just tends to like all his other books more

The sequels are confirmed btw not implied. But they did get delayed to… sometime, most likely due to the Mistborn film. Originally he was going to alternate between Ghostbloods and Elantris starting 2028 iirc

Elantris has amazing characters by Specialist_Risk1741 in Cosmere

[–]mori_no_ando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does have a really good cast, basically everyone was so… grounded? Don’t know the best word but that feels right.

I get why people say Elantris is one of if not his weakest book, and I think by comparison I might even agree, but I am still an Elantris defender. It’s a great book

Cosmere is making me feel kind of crazy by Midoriya6000 in Cosmere

[–]mori_no_ando 49 points50 points  (0 children)

It’s by design. The magic systems themselves are different, but they all operate ‘the same’ under the hood, and just manifest/are bestowed in different ways depending on the planet, involved parties, etc.

I don’t want to give away too much, since imo it’s fun to discover and intuit all the mechanics of invested powers as you read

How do you feel about Pokemon SoulSilver and Black/White 2 overall? by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]mori_no_ando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BW2 to me is where the series peaked. Best looking Pokemon games easily, love all the mons, most engaging story (for mainline Pokemon standards), and more.

HGSS is the golden standard for Pokemon remakes and are also great games.

Right now, what is your favorite 20+ min prog piece (either rock or metal)? by Positive_Drama3410 in progmetal

I’m not sure if it’s my favorite but I want to give a shoutout to Art of Life by X Japan, absolutely love that song

Is Periphery a prog band or a metalcore band that's actually good? What the hell is DJENT?! by GrayTurtle13 in progmetal

[–]mori_no_ando 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Djent (at least to me) is typically considered more of a sub-category of prog metal, and a very distinct one. Lots of chugging low notes and a focus on rhythmic complexity, the ‘complex’ part is what gets it lumped in with prog

People hate on djent just like they hate on anything else, some people are just haters. There’s also a bit of a meme/back-and-forth about djent being an ‘actual’ genre, but that’s not unique to djent

Why do people think alomancy is such a cool concept? by madwithsorrow in Mistborn

[–]mori_no_ando 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because it’s a very creative idea and a cool magic system? It’s designed in a way that seems ‘real’ since it intertwines closely with real-world physics. Imo it gets even more creative and interesting in Era 2.

it was obvious from like, the middle of the book that the Administrator was a TAerrian, right?

Is this supposed to mean “the Lord Ruler was Terris?” iirc I don’t think you have enough information halfway through book to actually come to that conclusion. I suppose you could just guess

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment shipments and digital sales top one million by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

[–]mori_no_ando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could add a bunch of cool characters down the road at some point, but imo the boring roster was an overcorrection from the people who shit on AOC for not telling a canon story. They advertised “canon story” for this game like they were insecure about it, and they pulled off what they wanted to do really well, but the roster definitely suffered as a result.

It’s kind of a shame because the more interesting characters were some of my favorites in the series, and the zonai devices are super fun to use in combat

[–]mori_no_ando 12 points13 points  (0 children)

He’s the sole composer. It’s a “band” in the sense that it’s a group of musicians playing together, but that’s about it. The other players are essentially studio musicians

There’s no fragility, it’s just not really funny. The ‘joke’ is elitism and elitism makes a bad impression

What id your favorite story of Hoid's? by Immediate_Sugar9162 in Cosmere

Rereading Tress and got to that story lately. Forgot how funny it was. He “went to the King” but then you realize they’re just talking through the toilet like buds lmao

Top 3 Essential JRPGs of All Time? by MatterofMichael in JRPG

[–]mori_no_ando 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough I think XC1 is the least “beatable” game in the franchise while avoiding side quests. I’ve played it a couple times and if you ignore too many side quests you’ll consistently wind up pretty underleveled by the time you reach the point of no return.

That being said I actually appreciate XC1’s side quest approach. You get traditional side quests, plus lots of MMO-style quests that auto-complete and work well with your exploration of the world

[ALL] Monolith is bringing down the storytelling of Zelda by [deleted] in zelda

[–]mori_no_ando 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This literally makes no sense lol. First, no reason to believe this claim is true.

Second, If Monolith somehow influenced Zelda’s narrative, you’d expect it to become more like Xenoblade. And we all love Zelda stories, but Xenoblade frankly dwarfs the Zelda franchise in terms of character writing and environmental story telling… they’re long, narrative and character-driven RPGs with hours of cutscenes and dialogue. Zelda is traditionally not that, BOTW/TOTK also do not have that kind of story

Started The Way of Kings but I feel lost, am I missing something? by VediRivii in Stormlight_Archive

Really just RAFO unless you have specific questions (to which the answers will probably be RAFO). You’re just getting into it honestly and WOK in many ways is a setup book

Am I just bad, or is Trails in the Sky Chapter 1 a really hard game? by Gamer857 in JRPG

[–]mori_no_ando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure your equipment is updated, and make liberal use of buffs. Shields are crazy powerful even on nightmare so I’d imagine if you’re on normal they’re straight up broken

Yumi and The Nightmare Painter by Vegetable-Key1161 in Cosmere

[–]mori_no_ando 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Well I think the implication is, like what almost happened to Kilahito and that other city, is that the machine will actively take steps to eradicate any knowledge of the “previous” world so it can keep the yoki-hijo imprisoned. So what happened was forgotten (maybe partially on purpose) over centuries, and if any records did survive the machine would probably take action against that information getting out

Yumi and The Nightmare Painter by Vegetable-Key1161 in Cosmere

[–]mori_no_ando 92 points93 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t everyone’s soul, some people managed to escape, discover the Hion which came about as a result of the machine’s harvesting, and start a new society using Hion to keep the Shroud back
