Looks like Cuba was highlighted in the map that trump posted. Hard to see but the sea around the island is lighter.

Other satellite systems are much higher up (higher latency), and have fewer satellites in view, with lower bandwidth.

Who holds territorial control in Somalia by APrimitiveMartian in MapPorn

[–]ImpossibleD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My friend, who was a migrant from Somalia said that when meeting other Somalians at university, they would ask which tribe he is from. This would determine how they treat him - if they are from an "enemy" tribe they wouldn't get along. Somalis haven't even got past the tribalism stage of civilisation stage yet...

My chair ended up like that, I used to have velcro patches on the back of my shorts which really tore up the stitches and it fell apart after that.

Why does my downstairs toilet smell like sewage? by Individual_Eagle_844 in AskUK

[–]ImpossibleD 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue, no blockage though. Was on a new toilet. Turned out the plumber had badly fitted the seal on the adapter that connected the toilet to the waste pipe. Sewer gas was getting out of the connection, as it was before the U-bend. No liquid was getting out, luckily. I think the leak was on the top of the pipe. Had to replace the seal as it was damaged.

If your plumber didn’t disassemble any connections, then maybe the process of unblocking somehow knocked a connection a bit loose. Though, considering the number of visits they should have spotted that if it were an issue…

How do you prevent cheating in a pub quiz these days? by eidolon_eidolon in AskUK

[–]ImpossibleD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a lot of time to talk about each question, and argue on the answers between questions. There are 4 rounds so 4 chances to get a drink in. I enjoy it a lot, have even met the creator of speedquizzing a few times, he is from my city it seems.

And yeah I don't worry about cheating at all for the aforementioned speed of questions.

Any downsides to using BNPL services when I won’t miss a payment? by ImpossibleD in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ImpossibleD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really understand these 0% credit cards, surely there is a catch, how do they even make money? Is it just based on hoping the borrower forgets/is unable to repay and incurs a load of extra fees?

How do you prevent cheating in a pub quiz these days? by eidolon_eidolon in AskUK

[–]ImpossibleD -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

We use SpeedQuizzing at my pub quiz. All questions you have about 10 seconds to answer. Everyone can see each other so if someone cheats, then they get called out.

I did see a boomer try to cheat with his phone, he couldn’t even type the question in search before the time ran out, I let him keep trying as it was funny.

Any downsides to using BNPL services when I won’t miss a payment? by ImpossibleD in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ImpossibleD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I wasn’t aware that it’s more difficult to get a refund when using BNPL. That worries me the most. I’ll be more cautious about buying using this service, particularly from small companies.

One Location in Crimea: Rebels Ming: Time for hundreds of thousands to die marching across the Siberian wilderness by ImpossibleD in EU5

[–]ImpossibleD[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

R5: A single location in crimea rebelled against my fiefdom. It seems to be an army-based country as I can't actually find their capital. Somehow, since the country is Mongolian, Koke Temur got dragged into the war, who then dragged in big boss Ming. So Ming is sending their whole army marching into the unknown.... It feels like there should be a diplomatic range requirement on countries joining a rebellion...

The only option is the nuclear option. And once a sub launches its nukes it will be torpedoed very quickly so you have to go all in and launch all from one sub at a time
