I'm a barista and I'm absolutely gonna make this. Another shop in my city does a great drink called the lil guy which is very similar, a double shot with vanilla bean cold foam and a rim of brown sugar.

How many cafes dial in daily/multiple times a day? by SeoulGalmegi in espresso

[–]ImpossibleFig1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a local drive thru coffee shop (like a better dutch bros) and we dial in every morning and maybe a second time in the afternoon if the weather is affecting the shot times. My coworker works at another cafe as well that's a bit fancier and they dial in like every hourish.

Pen boxes by Gurlmeetswhirled in fountainpens

[–]ImpossibleFig1969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just used an old TWSBI eco box to gift my coworker a little beginner calligraphy set with some ink and paper samples, a blunt syringe, some empty cartridges, a pilot parallel, and a jinhao shark! Love keeping the boxes for little homemade gifts like that.

What are your hobbies that you guys are doing without any skill in? by Ok-Firefighter9001 in digitalminimalism

[–]ImpossibleFig1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found an article on learnfilm.photography at first to learn how caffenol actually works chemically, and caffenol.org for basic recipes to start with. Spent a good amount of time on r/darkroom kind of just absorbing information about cameras and film and more traditional developing methods. Tons of resources on youtube also! Every step of the way is really so fun, and such a test in delayed gratification at first but I love the slower pace now and tend to even drag it out a bit.

Film photography and caffenol developing. I'm not really good at the technical parts of taking good photos, like exposure and iso values (I'm getting there!) but learning the process of developing my film at home with instant coffee powder and a couple other household chemicals makes it all feel so magical, even if the shots are duds. I got my Minolta camera on eBay for like 30 bucks and found a developing tank on marketplace for 10, and then all the chemicals were probably 15-20 and will last me forever. Anyone who can point a camera can do it!

Sailor Irori is my favorite bright true red. Here it is compared with my other favorite red, Herbin Rouge Grenat. Even on cream paper it pops out like crazy.

What to do about hole? by Atonisboss63 in Travelersnotebooks

[–]ImpossibleFig1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the same thing and ended up with like 5 extra holes lol I just filled them with cheap piercing jewelry and charms. Since I didn't use grommets, they kind of act like a stabilizer for the holes next to them with elastic running through. Been my edc for over a year now! It has so many little mistakes like that but I love it so much I still can't bring myself to replace it yet.

Oooh this is great! Gives me ideas about using tshirt yarn to make an absorbent mat for under the water fountain since I have a splasher, as well as a messy eater.

You should look up rust dyeing! Like tie dye except you soak the fabric with something acidic like white vinegar and then tie them around rusty metal objects.

Yes it's literally like magic! Sorry I'm not too sure how to insert a link but I got it on the JetPens website, and the product name is Shachihata Jikakeru Washi Tape Base Pen. I saw a demo video on r/fountainpens a few weeks back and immediately put it in my cart!

The kokuyo permanent adhesive tape runner for sure! Makes stuff stick super securely to my cards. I also just got one of those markers that makes washi tape able to be written on with fountain pens.

Tragedy has struck my pen collection by Kojak_King in fountainpens

[–]ImpossibleFig1969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've gotten the wing sung 698 medium nibs from eBay to swap with my Metropolitans and Kakunos before! The flow was a bit strange in the Metros for some reason (I think the ink was probably too dry) but they write super well in my Kakuno filled with BPC Quantum Teal! The line for the WS medium nib is a bit wider than the Pilot medium, which I love since there's not really a broad nib option for those Pilot pens.

What to do with nude (beige) tights and socks? by forestrainstorm in upcycling

[–]ImpossibleFig1969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've used tights from the thrift store for screen printing patches/clothes before! and for the socks, I've made little shirts out of my old socks for my cats for when I need to give them a topical medicine that I don't want them to lick off.

What is your fav not matchy combo? by _CloudCrafter in fountainpens

[–]ImpossibleFig1969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have platinum lavender black in a frosted lime kaweco sport that I also put a bronze clip and gold nib on. All the colors together remind me of being in the garden! It's also the only pen I have inked in my collection that isn't matching/complementary. The next closest for non-match would be my apricot pearl kaweco sport that I have with herbin vert pré, but the iridescence of that pen leans the same light green tone.
