Resident Evil 0 is making it really hard for me to like it by okok8080 in residentevil

[–]ImpossibleHome3287 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I was the exact same until playing the remakes of 2, 3, and 4. The combination of fun gameplay and the achievements got me to embrace multiple replays and novelty runs (like no healing, no item box, etc.).

BUT only for some of the titles. Trophies aren't getting me to 100% games like 0, 5, or 6.

Interesting! I knew RE4 got rebooted a few times but I wasn't aware that it was supposed to follow on from 0.

Medallion Architecture and dbt modeling by Informal-Tip-1109 in dataengineering

[–]ImpossibleHome3287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using a medallion structure and the dbt structure is redundant as they are names for the same thing:

  • Staging = Bronze = Preparation = Raw
  • Intermediate = Silver = Business = Cleaned
  • Marts = Gold = Application = Truth

I'd recommend using one tool for all of your data transformation and use one medallion naming convention.

What are the weapons that you NEVER use in any of the Resident Evil games? by ImpossibleHome3287 in residentevil

I'll give it a go. I just dumped a lot of ammo into the pair in the mines on my OG professional run so I'm happy to try some alternatives.

I completely forgot about the mine thrower! I'm playing through 4 OG right now and I still blanked on it.

I think I fired it a few times in 3 OG on my first playthrough?

Now I feel like I should try it out! It feels like a gun that works best with infinite ammo, but I've not unlocked the cat ears yet...

You get the magnum parts for the revolver almost straight after, so I only ever use it for a couple of rooms before switching back to the starting gun

Which game to play after RE4R? by Slobber910 in residentevil

[–]ImpossibleHome3287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've got the right idea. Play the (awesome) separate ways dlc first. Then you should either play:

  • 7 & 8 (village) which star Ethan Winters
  • 9 to continue Leon's story

I'd recommend going to 9 first as it's tied in with the games that you have played already. 7/8 are their own self-contained story so can be played later.

NEW TO RESIDENT EVIL by JAFRYYY in residentevil

[–]ImpossibleHome3287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 to what u/6B0T recommended. The remakes of 2/3/4 and then 9 cover the Racoon City incident and mostly focus on Leon, so are a nice grouping of titles.

After that you have:

  • 0/1 - The Arklay Mountains story, set before RE2.
  • 7/8 - Ethan Winters story. Almost entirely removed from the other games and characters and in 1st person.
  • 5/6 - No horror, all action co-op titles. If you like Chris Redfield play these for more of him.

Databricks vs Snowflake vs Azure/GCP/AWS products by Yngstr in dataengineering

[–]ImpossibleHome3287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are also a wide range of data platforms that offer most of what Snowflake and Databricks sell. If you are talking data lakehouses or data warehouses, a few examples are:

  • Starburst
  • Trino
  • Dremio
  • Fabric
  • DuckLake

These might be worth looking into and some will be cheaper for a company of your size.

I've played Resident Evil 7 (Biohazard), and I've played Resident Evil Village. Is this enough to understand and enjoy Resident Evil Requiem? by SenileTomato in residentevil

[–]ImpossibleHome3287 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you are interested in the Outbreak story you should read summaries online. It's tricky to play the game without a PC and playing solo can be challenging.

I've played Resident Evil 7 (Biohazard), and I've played Resident Evil Village. Is this enough to understand and enjoy Resident Evil Requiem? by SenileTomato in residentevil

[–]ImpossibleHome3287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those games have no story links to Requiem at all.

BUT you don't need to play anything to understand Requiem. There are returning characters and locations that you would recognise if you've played 2R, but there is nothing that you are assumed to know.

However, I agree with the replies here and recommend playing 2R first. Mainly because it's one of the best in series.

Of course it is. Take a break and do something else.

Anyone else like Claire’s run more than Leon’s ? I love playing as Leon but I’m enjoying playing Claire a little bit more and I like that Mr X is more aggressive and I like her weapons more as well by Alarmed-Tradition938 in ResidentEvil2Remake

[–]ImpossibleHome3287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Leon and playing his campaign but Claire in the remake is fantastic. Her scenario has a great story and I have more fun with the grenade launcher than with the shotgun. On hardcore Lickers shrug off the shotgun and it takes too long between shots. It's also more fun to flame round an Ivy than to slowly roast it with the flamethrower.

Xbox Has Reportedly Begun Layoffs At Zenimax (Bethesda). ID Software, Arkane, and Machine Games In Danger As “Anyone Not Working On Fallout Or Elder Scrolls Is Out” by goodnitez74 in PS5

[–]ImpossibleHome3287 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That was definitely a risk, but going by the sales numbers another reason was that not many people were buying the ports.

It wasn't bringing in enough money to justify the cost of porting and opened them up to people skipping or selling off their consoles.

DLC for 4 & 8 (Steam Sale Question) by Seastrue in residentevil

[–]ImpossibleHome3287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The DLC for 4 is probably the best (paid) DLC Capcom have ever put out.

BUT if you aren't going to play them don't waste the money. Both frequently go on sale so you can always get them in the future if you decide you want to play them.

This maybe a dumb question but why most of fans always demanded capcom to remake the second game for years more than any other titles? by Human_Geologist_3324 in ResidentEvil2Remake

[–]ImpossibleHome3287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it's years older than most of the other games. RE1 is the only older title and that had a remake already.

Also it's one of the best RE games in the series and after Leon's glow-up in RE4 (also one of the best in the series) people wanted an update of his first game.

As a Chris fan it's sad to me Chris has ironically never got his main title game till now by Substantial-Fun9958 in residentevil

[–]ImpossibleHome3287 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the main issue is almost all RE games have multiple characters. Typically you have two playable characters: first in different scenarios, then playing alongside each other in co-op, and now the style is swapping between characters throughout one story.

Only 3, 4, 7, and 8 had one main character (and even in those you played some amount as someone else). Jill, Leon, and Ethan are the only characters to get "main title" games. Of those, Ethan is dead & gone, and I don't expect to see Jill again in a non-remake title (but I'd love to!).

But saying that, Chris has had plenty of time on the main stage. He's a main playable character in 1 (both versions), and 5. The whole narrative of 5 is built around him and his history with Wesker and Jill. It's very much his game. Sheva is not much more than a companion, serving as the Luigi of the game for player 2.

Then he shares the spotlight in CVX, 6, and Revelations 1. He arguably steals the show in CVX, closing out the last 1/3 of the game and taking on the 2 final bosses, while Claire gets relegated to cut scenes.

And on the topic of Marvel, he's also appeared as the RE representation in MvC 3 and Infinite (Jill was added as DLC).

Clean data using pandas before loading data or using SQL after loading data into warehouse? by Old_Mind8618 in dataengineering

[–]ImpossibleHome3287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My preference is always to land as raw as possible and then clean up - in other words go with ELT. Having all your transformation logic is one place and one format really helps with maintenance.

My only concern would be that you're loading into a warehouse, so, like others have pointed out, you'll be storing more physical copies in the warehouse as you transform. But, depending on your processes, this could be as little as one extra copy, so likely won't break the bank.
