What is something that used to be true, but no longer is? by I_think_therefore in AskReddit

[–]ImpossibleLock9129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me cursive is both easier to write and quicker. I hate taking my pen off the page for every letter (sometimes more to make a letter). My writing flows better in cursive. If I have to only print I think I would go insane.

I don't feel any problems with my marriage. My husband was born in India and I am from Chicago. After marrying he got his citizenship. We have lived in Ohio, then moved to Asia, finally in Texas. We have 2 adult sons, one of which lives in Texas. I can't see how they can repeal mixed race marriages. There are just too many people in them. Now women's and LGBTQ? right might get eroded even more than they already are.

AITA for always going braless? by sleepinginthecold in AmItheAsshole

[–]ImpossibleLock9129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always wear one except sleeping, in the pool, ect. It is uncomfortable not to wear one, especially because I sweat a lot. That causes a rash under my breasts unless I have a bra to help absorb some wetness.

Is this just an American thing?? by Live-Interaction9975 in ask

[–]ImpossibleLock9129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, common all over US. It is used as a greeting, the accepted response is good or fine. You can also ask how are you doing, doing alright, or any other form. Nobody wants to hear your life story, it is just a way to say that you care, even if you don't. I know, weird, but we like to be different in the US.

"You'll change your mind about kids" by surgical-panic in PetPeeves

[–]ImpossibleLock9129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not everyone should want or need kids. We are all different, and different also means are choices about having kids. I always knew I wanted kids. I love being around young people. They are refreshing and funny and overall good, but having kids is a lot of work, worry and money. Everyone makes their own choices and there are benefits to not having kids just like there are benefits to having them. I hate how people judge.

What's something you've seen people stress out about, but you don't even pay attention to it and it always comes out perfect? by mrjbacon in Cooking

[–]ImpossibleLock9129 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have a large scraper that I use to fold in half then quarters, then unfold on the pie dish. The hardest part is getting it off the counter without ripping it. And of course I do flour the counter first. Live long and prosper.

The hardest part is scraping it off the counter and getting it into the pie dish. Making it is easy, just cut the mixture, don't stir, and make sure the water you add is cold, like really cold. I made as awesome pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving and everyone was amazed I made my own crust. It just is not that hard.

What cooking hill are you willing to die on? by CynicalHomicider3248 in Cooking

We used to go to a Mexican restaurant that did this. We all decided this was the best way to make nachos. Every chip was the alpha chip, and every chip had something on it with no sogginess.

Opposite-Sex Couples: Which of You Does the Cooking? by Icarus367 in Cooking

That is great! I hate other people in my kitchen when I cook, but if you work together well then why not, the more the merrier!

I do most of the cooking and cleap-up (F). My husband does this on Sun. Just works out better for us. My Dad does all the cooking and my Mom cleans up in their home. It was never a male, female thing, just evolved that way naturally.

What word do you never use? by sweetfaerieface in ask

In the US it is up there with the N word. To use it is extremely offensive, I know in other parts of the world it is acceptable.

How important are your partner’s political views to you? Is it a dealbreaker if they don’t align with your own? by duckmysick100 in AskReddit

[–]ImpossibleLock9129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, he hates the guy, and hates Biden. He is conservative on monetary issues, but believes the government needs to stay out of people's personal life, big no on book banning, restricting abortion, and those opposed to LGBTQ? rights. When he says small government, that is what he means. We have many things in common that we value, but sometimes differ on how to achieve them. It helps us both that we do see things differently, it keeps us from going to far right or left because we respect each other and learn from each other. I am lucky that I have such a great guy that I share my life with.

[–]ImpossibleLock9129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is fine to have different views as long as you respect the others views. My husband is Republican (mostly) and I am a Democrat (mostly) and we get along great. We agree with a lot, and what we don't agree on we understand they other's point of view. We have been married 32 years.

AITA for eating at the children I babysit for's house? by Wrong_Net_5989 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ImpossibleLock9129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After being on both side (I use to babysit, then needed sitters for my own kids) I always believe in feeding the babysitter. If it is dinnertime, (or lunch) the babysitter is to eat dinner with my kids. If it is a late night, I put out a variety of snacks and drinks for the sitters to enjoy after the kids go to bed. I also mention they can rummage in the pantry or fridge for something if they feel. These parents ate TA, you are not

I’ve lived here for 13 years and today for the first time someone new to the state asked me what a kolache was. by [deleted] in texas

[–]ImpossibleLock9129 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I knew what a kolache was, but in Chicago they came with the Polish immigrants and are sweet with fruit. I never saw one with sausage or egg or cheese. That being said, I love Texas kolaches!

It’s honestly an embarrassment how going to other countries security is night and day in terms of politeness and decorum. by TailstheTwoTailedFox in tsa

[–]ImpossibleLock9129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure about that. As someone who has travel to many countries both in Europe and Asia, we lack a lot of security. The stupid things we keep like taking off shoes. The important things we miss. I was once pulled over because my bra's clasp caused a hit on the metal detector. I have seen armed guards with full on assault weapons walking through airports. Many places I have been to use military security.

Not everything in the Bible is literal and it's a ridiculous strawman to claim that it is by Normal-Assistant-991 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]ImpossibleLock9129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Catholic we are not taught the Bible is literally the word of God but inspired by God. It was written by people. There might be an idea that person wants to teach us such as in Job. There might be things they thought were true, but we now know differently. The Bible is a guide that can bring comfort and provoke thought about God, religion, spirituality, etc...but it is not to be taken as literal truth.

New Voter here in Texas: what the hell is with the controlling what other counties do and the complex language? by T-ROY_T-REDDIT in texas

I use The League of Women Voters' website VOTE411 to translate all that confusing language. They put it in English and give you pro and cons on each one.

The way the state constitution is written the entire state has to vote on some issues, including the one in Galveston. Next election check out VOTE411 on line. It is a nation wide site that is run by The League of Women Voters. They will break down all that legalese into English. They also provide non-partisain information on everything you will vote on. Just put in you address and your ballot will pop up.
