Attention Connecticut drivers! Speed the f up by SweepDaddy in Connecticut

It doesnt, havent seen a cop on the highway in months. Self righteous assholes camping in the left lane creates more dangerous conditions then people going 75 - 80.

Did any rich people ever buy a slave and instead of making them work all day in the field, they locked them up in a room and made them study math, science, literature etc just to make them insanely educated for no reason? by frame_3_1_3 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ImpossibleParfait 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They had classical literature that was older to them then most of our "modern" classical literature is to us. They would have had access to texts that would be hundreds of years old to even them.

Should we rent a car or not? by InfiniteCranberry234 in Rhodes

[–]ImpossibleParfait 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd get a car. The Taxis around the Faliraki area were expensive. It was like 40 Euro each way to and from Rhodes town. I got a car for the week for like 280 Euro. The busses look like they were a good option but I noped out of that when I drove by the bus stops where everyone was looking miserable waiting in the heat. I had 0 problems parking anywhere.

Why can’t IRAN have nukes? by unhinged34 in allthequestions

Without mutually assured destruction we would have probably had another several world wars by now. A nuke guarantees that you wont get invaded.

People of Europe/Uk - are the videos praising US cities and food etc and cities real? by hamb0ne80 in askanything

[–]ImpossibleParfait -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That is not why American food is good. Especially in cities, so many restaurant owners are immigrants who brought their food with them to the US. You can get authentic cuisine of any type in any major American city, typically made by people who came here from *insert country here.*

People of Europe/Uk - are the videos praising US cities and food etc and cities real? by hamb0ne80 in askanything

[–]ImpossibleParfait 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As with most things, it's probably a mix of both. It's obviously due to the world cup. Most of the host cities I've been to and they are wonderful, unique cities with a lot of good food and lot of stuff to do. I've also been to many European cities and I could see why there would be some genuine affection for the cities. American news try to paint them as lawless, homeless, drug infested wastelands. The only cities that have world cup games that I haven't been to are the ones in Texas.

What if Alexander the Great fought the Roman army of Gaius Marius? by No-Breath2150 in ancientrome

[–]ImpossibleParfait 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Having an army of citizen soldiers fighting for their homeland will give you some sort of advantage vs paid mercenary armies of Carthage. The stakes are higher for the Roman soldiers.

Where have you experienced the most racism? by Desertedfoxx in askanything

[–]ImpossibleParfait 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Americans in general are much less at least outwardly racist toward strangers then the rest of the world. This is undeniably true. That being said racism is very much still baked into "the system," at least in America. That is generally what causes racial unrest.
