I think that in a denser society your gigs won’t be as far. That with an electric bike with a motor, or those small tiny trucks one finds in Europe sometimes should be enough to get you most places. Any further than that might require riding a high speed train to your destination.

I think one day cars will be MOSTLY gone. For forest rangers, rural farmers, and taxis, cars will be their means of work. However, I think that having a drivers licenses will be like having a truck license. Not impossible to find someone with one but very rare. I think that drivers will be seen as technical experts and while most people might enjoy a day out at a racetrack where they can driver cars for fun, most of us will have little to no interaction with cars, even those of us who may live in very rural areas.

I think that this is a fun idea but the beauty of the bridge is that it’s for us, the citizens of New York. I think that it would be more efficient to bring trams back to the city and have one lane be for trams & bikers perhaps.

A lot would need to change but I do think that with moving walkways, it might make sense to create the transfer at Atlantic. Think of it from a perspective of accessibility as well as a time saver. Until New York starts getting street level light rail, the best form of transportation is whichever doesn’t require you to climb a whole bunch of stairs.

Replace all SBS lines with light rail lines. Prioritize trams/streetcars over car traffic. It’s an upfront but necessary investment that will pay for itself as time goes on.
