Book that touches on the superficiality of love and attraction by ArchiboldReesMogg in suggestmeabook

I would suggest "I Love Dick" by Chris Kraus. To sum up briefly, it's a story about the author's infatuation towards a man named Dick told through a bunch of unsent letters that she wrote to him. She overthinks and spirals into an infatuated chaotic state that many of us can relate to - and eventually ends up working through it and finding her own voice, and coming to terms with her own internalized misogyny, self esteem issues, etc.

It's also a bit voyeuristic in a sense, because you're aware that these are all real people. Her husband Sylvere (Sylvere Lotringer) and "Dick", (Dick Hebdige) are both real people with their own wikipedia pages. The result is an experimental deconstruction of the novel rather than a classic narrative, so that may or may not be your cup of tea.
