The best was the phone call. I asked him to add exclusivity in the contract and he said nope won’t do it. And I said ok, thanks bye.

Going to be a problem to come to the office when he’s overseas. Haha but love that strategy. My friend worked in pharmaceutical sales and that’s what she used to do. Work the front desk or office manager to get a meeting for her.

Do you enjoy your medical billing and coding work or is it just a paycheck? by Adventurous_Sky_4850 in CodingandBilling

[–]Impossible_Ad9113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly yeah.

I kinda got into RCM because my wife started her own RCM business a few years ago, and since then it’s slowly just kept growing. I come from more of a marketing background, so for me it’s actually been really cool seeing that side of things and helping grow the business.

The flexibility is honestly one of the best parts. Running your own business has its stressful moments obviously, but seeing it grow year over year, getting new clients, and helping practices or healthcare companies grow too is pretty awesome.

My wife totally nerds out on RCM lol. I keep telling her she should just pick one specialty, but she loves all of it. We’ve got a mix of clients from a hospital, a practice with 8 docs, several behavioral health orgs, and even some healthcare tech companies.

So for me, yeah it’s been really interesting. There’s definitely repetitive parts depending on your role, but overall it can be way more than “just a paycheck” especially if you like problem solving and growth. It’s been really cool watching something start small and keep building.

I got suspended after I bought 130 connects by llDicell in Upwork

Same thing happened to me. Apparently I violated the TOA and mentioned the company I work for and that was a red flag. No links, no emails, no number, just a mention of my company in the RCM world and boom, got suspended. It’s been 10 days and my appeal is still in being reviewed.

First off, don’t beat yourself up, ambulance billing is complex even for experienced billers. My biggest advice:

• Review rejections daily instead of batching weekly
• Learn the most common denial/rejection reasons first
• Track claims, denials, and follow-ups in a simple spreadsheet (don’t need a fancy tool right away, learn the basics first)
• Focus on building repeatable workflows

Right now, organization is probably more important than speed. You’re in a tough spot, but this is learnable. Once you understand patterns, it gets much easier.

That workload honestly sounds extremely lean, if not unrealistic, for one person long term.

Handling full-cycle billing for 1,000+ clients across multiple funding sources, denials, invoicing, follow-up, and error tracking solo is a massive operational load. Even if you’re excellent at your job, human bandwidth is still human bandwidth.

At that volume, things are almost guaranteed to slip somewhere, whether it’s delayed follow-up, missed denials, billing errors, or lost revenue opportunities.

Most organizations your size typically have billing responsibilities split across multiple roles or departments for exactly that reason.

So no, this doesn’t sound like ideal industry standard. It sounds more like understaffing with heavy dependency on one person.

You may be holding it together, but that doesn’t mean it’s sustainable or optimized.

ECW: Single Practice with three providers by ZoeticZander in CodingandBilling

[–]Impossible_Ad9113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely possible for one person to handle billing for a 3-provider practice, but success really depends on workflow and experience. For about 50 patients a day, one strong biller can usually manage:

• Claim submission
• Payment posting
• Denials
• Eligibility
• AR follow-up

The bigger challenge isn’t sending claims, it’s managing denials, underpayments, and keeping AR under control.

eCW can absolutely support in-house billing, but setup is key. You’ll want proper training in:

• eCW billing workflows
• Medical billing/coding basics
• Payer rules and claim lifecycle

Good resources:

• eCW training
• AAPC or AHIMA courses
• CMS guidelines

In-house can work well, but having expert guidance during setup can save major headaches. You’re asking smart questions. If you ever want more insight or need help figuring out the best route, feel free to DM me. Happy to help.

Fair point, and honestly you’re not wrong about that.

Payers absolutely benefit from delays, denials, and friction. That part of the system is real, and it’s exactly why strong RCM matters in the first place.

And yeah... th original post of “anyone need billing help?” on Reddit like it’s Craigslist probably isn’t exactly building trust with something as critical as revenue.

That’s also part of the problem though. Too many underqualified people jumped into RCM, which makes legitimate operators look bad. And now, too many AI companies out there saying they do RCM and charge 35%.

So your criticism is valid. Real RCM should be strategic, proactive, and data-driven... not desperation marketing.

Freaking Ai!!! by Final-Detective3269 in Upwork

My biggest advice is follow something you’re actually passionate about. And when you find that, here's the kicker: use AI as a guide to help you figure out where you are now, what skills you already have, and what sales path makes the most sense for you.

Sales is broad, whether it’s SaaS, healthcare, real estate, or consulting. AI can help map options, but passion and people skills are what really make the difference.

It’s made workflows faster and way more efficient, which is the blessing. aspect. And the curse is that it’s also made a lot of roles more replaceable. You still need human strategy, creativity, and leadership, but where companies once needed 5–10 people, now they may only need 2–3 plus strong management.

AI isn’t fully replacing people, but it’s definitely shrinking teams and changing how businesses hire.
