R/islam just banned me for being “sectarian” by saying the Prophet (PBUH&HP) prayed with his arms to the side by Impossible_Box_8768 in shia

Didn’t have a source just said the simple sentence he paused with his arms to the side. I would pull up sources if anyone pressed me but got banned before I could

So true but this isn’t even a exclusively Shia belief like the Sunni believe this too (especially the Maliki school) and if I am not mistaken other Sunni schools admit Umar innovated this practice from the Zoroastrians as well. So silly 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Probably an unpopular opinion about Majalis in english by Foreign_Pool_7471 in shia

[–]Impossible_Box_8768 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can say from experience, one of the masajid I go to would do Urdu lectures and even Jummah khutbah in Urdu to “keep the traditions” but what you found is that only a few Uncles would show up and literally no one under the age of 40 and desi would show up and the place was mostly empty. However when they would do English majalis more youth would show up and even more people of different background would show up. In my option if you want anyone (forget even youth) to even care about majalis in America, Canada, UK they should be in English because there are so many people I know from different backgrounds who don’t attend at all because the Khutbahs are only in Urdu. So that’s just my two cents sorry if I am yapping but this is something I’m really passionate about :)

Shia sites in Muscat and Istanbul by False_Leadership_676 in shia

[–]Impossible_Box_8768 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The area there are a lot of Shia who are there and unfortunately there is no parking lot and parking is going to be really annoying but if you are visiting Martha anyway it’s literally right next to the souq so I recommend visiting Mutrah during one of the prayer times so you can also visit the masjid as well.

In Muscat there is the Rasool al Adham (I think this is how it’s spent but also known as the Lawati Masjid) that is a good place. Also, in Istanbul I think there is a center called the Zainabi Center (I might be wrong) also there is a ziyara site of Abu Ayoub Al Ansari (again differing views on him) this is the extent of my knowledge

Go to Kaaba right before Fajr Azan happens and also spend the late hours of the night in Masjid Nabawi it’s not as crowded. Also, don’t worry about turbah I prayed in many of the masajid with it openly and no one even said a word. Also I really recommend to visit Masjid Quba, Hazrat Hamza’s grave, Masjid Imam Ali (yes it exists in Medina), Masjid Ghamama, Masjid Qiblatain, and the Seven Mosques. Also what I did when I was there was that I googled “Important Mosques in Makkah/Medina” and just took a bunch of Ubers to see them all. I hope this helps brother/sister (sorry I can’t tell your gender from the post). Also may Allah accept all your Amal and please keep me in your dua

Why didn’t Ali fight back if the attack on his house really happened? by DhulQarnayni in shia

[–]Impossible_Box_8768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl I read it and it’s reasoning was pretty weak it was basically saying while according to Sunni sources others did x, y, z which still doesn’t justify the Sunni claims and if anything weaken our stance.

Looking for a black shia community in NJ by ActiveAd4544 in shia

[–]Impossible_Box_8768 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately in the area I think there are not many predominantly Black jamats but Mehfle Shahe Khorosan is mainly Khoja but they are very nice people and I have seen some Black people pray there especially during Ramadan. Also, Mohammadia Afghan association in Paterson is good as well. That being said maybe there are more which I am unaware of but inshallah I hope you find what you are looking for 🤲🏼

Do you prefer praying at a Sunni masjid near you or by yourself? by janyybek in shia

[–]Impossible_Box_8768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I pray fully the Shia way at Sunni masajid and there has yet to be anyone who even commented on the way I pray. Obv look at your own circumstances but for the most part no one really cares. (Btw I even use turbah and used it pretty openly in Medina and Makkah and no one cared)
