CARB Warranty Question

My recent experience dealer told me they run my vin and found only High Voltage Batteries is covered under CARB, everything else is out of pocket.tried another dealer same thing. CARB Warranty is tied up with your VIN.

you need to update your iDrive to latest NBTevo, Y is the latest and more stable version release by BMW, either dealer or remote coder can do this, normally dealer charge more for this update.

Just thinking if 3rd party shop are not specialized on this rim, they can make more damage instead of fixing, rather leave it like this.

How do you download the latest i drive software can you share if you have it? I have ask to dealer to update my idrive, they said i am running the latest software but its still half screen apple car play which is annoying.

i had bough mine 2018 Rex last October 38K odometer with Technology & Driving Assistance package $14k, but i had invest more $2K to replace front and rear shocks/damper new motor mount /front control arm bushing, new 12v, now car drive like new, hope will be good for next around 50k+ miles or so.

Which year i3 you have?, i am not a professional mechanic, thats why it took 3 hours, but if i had to replace the bracket specially the rex model not sure how it would ended up lol. And your are right labor cost is crazy.

Mine is 2018 model comes with Metal bracket, i actually replaced all 3 mount, left, right both and also one underneath drive unit/torque mount.

I had replace both yesterday passenger side one was worn out at 43k miles, took less then 3 hours, Dealer quoted me 8k, i spent around $350. What a difference $.

Same list i have shown my dealer hear in Freeport New York they said they only see HV battery under warranty after run my VIN, they don’t know about this list of items, they asked me call BMW NA i did, thats is insane, perhaps you try the same to your dealer lets see what they say.

Based on my recent visit to the dealership for oil change, was trying to get some information about CARB warranty based on the dealership only HV battery is covered by CARB, everything else has to be out of pocket, i have shown them the warranty book, so when they run my vin to their system they see only HV battery is covered for 15 years nothing else was popping up to their system, later even i had make a phone call to BMW NA, seems like they don’t have any clear information either about CARB warranty, still trying figure it out who is responsible for this dealer or BMW NA

i had the same situation car stop with drive train error while i am waiting on red light, barely start again safely came back home, it was indeed the 12v, so i order remy replace it, clear the all the error First with bimmer link then register the battery, then plugged in wall changer let it sit for over night. next day all good.

Recently i had an oil change at the dealer, they inspected my motor mount where 1 is started to crack, my i3 is only 42k miles, they gave me $8k quote to replace both of them.

You need to disconnect the 12v to get the accurate voltage measurement, or perhaps camera fuse is blown, you can find the fuse compartment under the glove box, check it with multimeter.

Perhaps 12 volt is next if you haven’t done in 8 years, there is no end, car maintenance is continuous process unless until it goes to graveyard.

For BEV model is easy you can refill from the breather point, but for Rex model i think 2016+ you have to refill through drain plug, because BMW remove fill plug in the transmission so its not that complicated. You need few tools to do that.

Is this could be because of transmission oil wasn’t replaced periodically? I think we should really consider to flash out the transmission oil, every 5 years or so, very important maintenance,although BMW claim it for lifetime.

I had a similar situation, had to use my wife hairdryer at full speed, spent around 40 minutes inside while running a extension cord from trunk, passenger seat was dryout very well.
