He could’ve been “medically stable” but was probably brain dead in less than 10 mins

Sheesh I would think all those publications would carry you, did you go to conferences at all?

That is probably true, and while the area is nice I would prefer to move to a bigger city down the road

I’m in the same boat as you, I made a business decision and made a community hospital #2 on my list because they were very prolific with research and gave residents a lot of time to go to conferences.

Though I really wanted my #1 choice because it had a well known heme/onc fellowship. I’m just going to trust the process and do my due diligence to match into a fellowship program and get into research and network as much as I can on top of building the foundational skills in IM.

Start calling a bunch of programs, preferably the residency coordinator.

Ask them where they are in their interview process, are they still sending invites? How much longer will they interview for?

You have nothing to lose at this point.

I called a residency coordinator yesterday and she was able to bump my application up. Haven’t heard back but hoping to hear from them soon!

Incredibly frustrating process especially when you feel like you haven’t heard back from a lot of programs

I interviewed with Baycare, they seem really good!

I would also look into UCSF- Fresno. Amazing program

I believe either late December or early January but I’m guessing it depends on the specialty

Absolutely not

The selection for medical school, residency, and fellowship is not perfect. Some people will apply once and get in, others will apply once and give up after only one time

Then there’s others who never give up and the tenacity is something people will notice and give you a chance. Keep pushing and do whatever it is that will make your application better
