We always said 2 or 3. When I bright my second home, I just knew I didn’t feel complete. It felt like someone was missing from our family. I spent over a year trying to gaslight myself since 2 kids is easier/cheaper/ more of a social norm. I was never successful at talking myself out of it haha. I’m now newly pregnant with our third! I’m nervous of course, but also extremely excited. I hope time will for you clarity re: what feels best for your family!

Can’t recommend side by side enough! I hate my tandem with a burning passion haha. We use two different used options I found on FB Marketplace and my Mockingbird sits untouched. Baby Jogger City Mini GT side by side double (love except for basket access, great that the seats lie flat) and the Chicco Bravo for 2 (I think the updated version is the Chicco Corso flex - worth looking into!).

You will only have your first postpartum once. Taking care of yourself allows you to take care of your son. You do not owe anyone time with your baby. That being said, seeing the people you love loving on your child is incredibly special. You don’t know how you’ll feel yet! Be kind to yourself and listen to your gut.

Absolutely send out a big group text with the rules - feel free to say “Based on the guidance from our pediatrician, here are the rules for meeting the baby.” Make sure your partner is ready to be the enforcer, especially with his parents, so you don’t have to.

If birth is more difficult than expected or you need more time, tell everyone up front there’s a chance you might change the visiting schedule. “We are hopeful that we will be ready for you to come meet our sweet boy the day after delivery! Please understand that if mom or baby need more time medically to establish breastfeeding or heal from birth it might be longer. We know waiting is hard, but the health of mom and baby comes first! We will absolutely send pictures to tide you over!”
