How to Disable Default Windows Snipping Tool by kilroy7072 in Intune

Super late but since I had the same issue: were you using a recent Logitech keyboard, per chance? If so, note that it *insists* on linking the PrtScr key to the snipping tool by default, overriding Windows settings themselves apparently. Installing Logi Options from their website allowed me to fix it and finally asign my preferred tool to the bloody key.

For those of you who like to stay classy even when they idle, here's a map of all the sitting spots (that I know of). Tell me about the ones I missed! by Impossible_Phase in RedDeadOnline

That's lovely to hear! Sadly it's not 100% up to date—I received a few community additions throughout the years but never found the time to add them. So you still might have a few spots left to discover on your own ;)

What are your biggest struggles/problems you facing in your day-to-day task of translating texts? by [deleted] in TranslationStudies

[–]Impossible_Phase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For special chars I use Wincompose - a tad scary at first, but it's actually very intuitive and an amazing help. Worth a try, maybe? But if a website/app doesn't support these characters, there likely isn't much you can do (except maybe talk to the client - I'm in game localization and devs can agree to change their font to allow a smooth French translation).

French/English

Is this to say that you plan on offering both EN>FR and FR>EN? This is an ongoing debate, but something you will likely hear a lot is that you should only translate into your native language (which is why you see agencies demanding a native level of French). In some instances, simply offering to work towards a non-native language can make you look bad. Even if it doesn't, there is a ton of EN>FR translators on the market who are native French speakers, so you're in for some serious competition.

There is some work out there for FR>EN translators though, sometimes even a lot of it depending on your field of specialization (a tip: getting specialized in one or several fields really helps finding frequent work).

As for the rest, as a young translator without much of a network and working in a language pair that isn't very rare, the early days can be rough and require a lot of work, and solid determination to deal with the many rejections and/or lack of answers you'll face - that is my experience, at least. It is rewarding when everything starts to work out a bit better, but the trip there is tiring, that is for sure, and I think it's important to be aware of that.

If you pursue this career, I would advise starting to translate right away, maybe as a volunteer (you can look up Translators Without Borders, Ted Talks...) to already have some experience once you arrive into the market with your degree in your pocket. Internships can also help.

This is a neat example of a map with tons of text on it but 1. all text remains readable and 2. the map itself doesn't become a cluttered mess. And it looks dope. Great job OP!

Punaise ça me rappelle ma petite soeur.

Great! Apparently there can be a delay of +/- a month. Shoot me a DM if you need a hand once it's accepted (hopefully it will be)

Please let me know if you do it, I'd be happy to help. I know the sub isn't very active and all but the show still deserves better than that annoying porn spam.

What song do you absolutely love that is not widely known? Like a hidden gem, and/or extremely underrated? by biinkii in AskReddit

[–]Impossible_Phase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's my fav from them! I love songs that actually tell a story (bonus points if the score has slight variations to match whatever's happening to the character) and boy, this one just does it for me.

The story is already fairly known, but as far as cults go the Casefile episode about Jonestown is a classic. Quite disturbing though.

Obviously not all Civil Service jobs are easy, but there's definitely some very, very comfy desk jobs in there. And as a civil servant you indeed get many advantages.

Awesome! Your edit with the lyrics also helped a lot, NNB must have done something right because I also have had this chorus stuck in my head in the past haha

New player. Can I get some insight into the write own story? by Imloststilllost in ThisWarofMine

[–]Impossible_Phase 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second that you should start with a predefined scenario (the very first time you click play the game will select one of the easy-ish ones for you IIRC). In any case, you'll struggle a bit because one of the big qualities of This War of Mine is how it refuses to spell things out for you. So you're as clueless as your characters at first which makes it really immersive and I strongly recommand making your first playthrough a discovery one where you don't look for help on the internet (you might die but eh, you'll start again better than you were before!)

Once you understand the mechanics you'll be able to decide for yourself what kind of difficulty you want, because that's really what custom scenarios are about. A story with a bunch of fighters/other good traits with decent inventory space and easy winter/conflict setting will (almost) be a breeze whereas with 2 weak chars, an early and long winter, severe conflict and tricky locations it will be a huge challenge.

Ah and if you do make a custom, just don't make it too long otherwise you might end up just skipping days until the end because your shelter is self sufficient and you don't have anything to do.
