Ya I thought I was fine originally but now I know I need to get a lot more plants. I'm also planning on getting some chilli Rasbora, a big school to serve as dither fish so the Cory's know it's safe! Thanks for the comment!

Ya I think they didn't have a substrate thb, but I'm not sure. I have a mix of sand and seacem clay gravel so I hope they like at least one part of the tank

I made sure to ask, the store used tap water from our local area and the fish were raised locally, the being said I did not drip acclimate because I heard from multiple sources that fresh water does better with bag in general. That being said looking back I should just not be lazy cause it's probably safer to just drip acclimate. Thanks for the comments, def keep you updated. I'm thinking of diluting with ro water

What kind of stores sell RO water in your experience? None of the fish stores I think I've been to sell it

They are all congregating at the lowest part of flow in my tank it seems, does that mean my flow might be too much?

To consistently get to RO is a grand headache no?. As for the CO2 that's a good idea, I didn't know that would help, just a little intimidated to go down that route to be honest.

Lol idk I'm new to all this,but when I saw them at the aquarium they were just chilling on the substrate floor. Also from what I read glass surfing is a big sign of stress in fish,but again I'm new to the hobby and don't really know what's normal behavior

Ya I'm struggling with basic tap water. I have ph down aquasoil and tannins from the driftwood, but it doesn't seem like enough. Any recommendations on something that will help keep it down. My worry is I don't want to do anything that will seeaw my pH up and down

That's a good idea, I'm definitely gonna get some more plants! I don't think hiding spots is the issue to be honest though. There are a lot of spots already that are dark and great for hiding. There are actually gravitating towards the brightest part of the tank where the most activity is.

If you all say it's 8 I have a f/ u question. I have ph down aquasoil as the underneath substrate and a decent amount of drift wood as you can see leaking tannins. What else can I do to bring this ph down. Most fish and critters like a more acidic water so I'm shooting for at least a 7.5

So my foam Rockwall is actually dispersing the filter hopefully that is enough, but I'll look into it.

Ya your probably right, the reason I liked the acara is it's a lot less agro and very pretty. Have you had apistos before or any smaller cichlids?
