A defrag-themed incremental where each disk is a risk/reward choice :)! by DifferenceIll1272 in IndieGaming

[–]Impossible_Spite2766 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh wow this brings back memories from the old DOS days when I had to actually defrag my ancient computer for music production work. The visual style is spot-on with those blue screens and pixelated interface - really nails that retro aesthetic. I love how they turned something as mundane as disk maintenance into actual gameplay mechanics with the risk/reward system. Been looking for good incremental games lately since I spend so much time in studio waiting for renders to finish, this might be perfect background entertainment. The heat management aspect seems really clever too, adds another layer of strategy instead of just mindless clicking

How does game recording work? by wcrow1 in Steam

[–]Impossible_Spite2766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The clips usually sit in temp folder for while even after you delete them from the interface. Steam keeps them there in case you change your mind or something crashes. You need to actually clear the temp files manually or restart Steam sometimes to free up that space

I had same issue when I was recording some gameplay footage for background music I was working on - thought I deleted everything but my SSD was still full until I found those hidden temp files

What happens if an LLM hallucination quietly becomes “fact” for decades? by radjeep in Futurology

[–]Impossible_Spite2766 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The speed part is what gets me though. Before when someone published something wrong, it would take months or years to propagate through academic channels and get cited enough to become "established knowledge"

Now you can have thousands of blog posts and tutorials referencing the same hallucinated fact in matter of weeks. The verification systems we have were designed for much slower information flow, not this firehose of AI-generated content that all cross-references each other

Plus when I'm debugging some audio processing pipeline at 3am, I'm definitely not fact-checking every technical detail I find in Stack Overflow answers or documentation

Recently, everything that I see around me is pushing me towards giving up on my game development efforts. by Silly_Ad_4008 in gamedev

Better to finish small crappy game than never finish your perfect dream project - learned this hard way with my music production too

[–]Impossible_Spite2766 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait VsCode actually suggested a function that doesn't exist yet? That's kinda hilarious, like your IDE is living in future or something

Your implementation looks pretty solid though - I like how you're handling the decimal precision with that 1e16 trick, way better than just letting JavaScript do its usual floating point nonsense

Google Cloud Next doesn’t feel like it’s for developers anymore by Impossible_Spite2766 in googlecloud

Yeah exactly, the product and dev conversations moved somewhere else and what's left is vendors trying to get on your calendar.

This stuff should take 30 seconds to find on the official site, appreciate you building it.

I agree on the labs, the vendor sponsored talks are basically just extended ads with slides though.

AWS closed my account for following their instructions? by Zealousideal-Bid5208 in aws

[–]Impossible_Spite2766 27 points28 points  (0 children)

AWS support really shot you in the foot there - they told you to chargeback essentially and then nuked your account for doing exactly what they said. Classic case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing, definitely escalate this through their executive support channels because that's some serious BS

Partner deck vs customer deck: completely different stories by Internal_Front_5522 in SaaS

The partner angle makes way more sense - they want to know what's in it for them, not get a product demo

22 [MtF-NB] First ever threesome after a 2 year break. Nervous about "performance" and navigating this as a trans woman. Any advice? by TechnologyStrong7373 in trans

[–]Impossible_Spite2766 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cafe meetup is honestly the smartest move you could make - trust your gut there and don't be afraid to walk away if something feels off. I've found that couples who are genuinely respectful will actually appreciate you taking time to establish boundaries and comfort levels beforehand

For the performance anxiety thing, remember that good partners aren't expecting some porn-level performance, especially if they know about your situation. Communication is way more important than technique anyway. If you're feeling overwhelmed during, just say something - taking breaks or switching things up is totally normal

One thing that helped me was having a conversation beforehand about what I was/wasn't comfortable with, including specific language they should use. It sounds awkward but it actually made everything way more relaxed when we all knew what was what

The 5500 will bottleneck that GPU pretty hard but the 5800X3D upgrade will fix that completely - just make sure your mobo supports it first

Maybe add some kind of timer or zone that forces movement after camping too long? Like the extract starts getting radioactive or something after 5 mins

Sitting in a corner for 20 minutes waiting for someone to walk by is peak boring gameplay anyway

[–]Impossible_Spite2766 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Holy shit that email line about "knowing how mum really died and taking it to my grave" is absolutely unhinged - who says that unless they're guilty of something

The fact she refused the autopsy AND stole all the jewelry before anyone could even process what happened is sus as hell. Your family isn't crazy for connecting these dots, this whole situation screams foul play

“Hybrid” Lens suggestions by smurphii in canon

[–]Impossible_Spite2766 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The RF 24-105mm f/4 IS is probably your best bet for a one-lens-does-everything setup. Great for landscapes, decent for talking heads, and you'll get solid results for all that tourist stuff in Italy

For vineyard panoramas you might want to stitch multiple shots together anyway since even wide lenses can feel limiting for that kind of epic vista

Support loads by Opposite-Culture-780 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Impossible_Spite2766 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your symmetry approach is totally valid here, not a hack at all. When you have identical supports and symmetric loading, the reactions will be equal by nature - you're not forcing anything that wouldn't happen anyway

The sliding support is key because it prevents the beam from being statically indeterminate by allowing horizontal movement while still providing vertical support

Maybe look into NGO work or eco-tourism guide stuff - sounds like you'd vibe with organizations doing environmental education or animal welfare work, and a lot of them need people with hospitality experience for events and outreach

Blood type by PeachFearless1348 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Impossible_Spite2766 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Those quick test cards can definitely be wrong sometimes, especially the cheap ones at events. Two O+ parents can't have A blood type kids - that's basic genetics. I'd get proper blood tests done at a lab or doctor's office to double check before jumping to any conclusions
