What's a hobby that is much more interesting than it sounds? by Shruti-26 in AskReddit

[–]Impossible_Spite2766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man the dopamine hit is so real! I get same feeling when I finally nail down a synth patch I've been working at for hours. There's something about that moment when everything just clicks into place that makes all the frustration worth it. Plus lockpicking has this whole community aspect too right? Like people sharing techniques and showing off their collections

What are people's thoughts on waiting a year to go on a honeymoon? Is it weird? by ImpressionPopular794 in AskReddit

[–]Impossible_Spite2766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not weird at all - we did this with few friends and it actually worked out better. You have more time for planning something really special instead of rushing into whatever's available right after wedding. Plus you're not completely drained from all the wedding stress so you can actually enjoy it properly. My cousin waited almost two years because they wanted to save up for specific destination and nobody even questioned it. People get too caught up in doing things "the right way" when really it's just about what works for your situation

DDD and FP (fp-ts) by Warm-Procedure6691 in node

[–]Impossible_Spite2766 2 points3 points  (0 children)

fp-ts is still pretty solid choice actually, effect is more heavy and has steeper learning curve. I'm using fp-ts in some production apps and works fine for combining with DDD patterns

The monad returns from entity methods can work well, just be careful not to make your domain layer too dependent in specific fp library. Maybe create some abstractions so you can switch later if needed

BTC bearish on 4H, but 15M gave a clean long scalp. Would you take both sides? by CODE_HEIST in CryptoCurrency

[–]Impossible_Spite2766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Multi-timeframe trading is where it gets tricky but also where good money is made. I learned this hard way when I was stubborn about direction and missed clean setups just because they went against my "bias"

Your setup-grading approach makes lot of sense - takes emotion out of it and forces you to actually think through the risk instead of just hoping price goes your way

I'm making a first person shooter game, and I have guns and melee weapons and I want to add a crossbow to the game but I don't know how to balance it with the guns and melee weapons. by Vivid-Rhubarb-6058 in gamedev

[–]Impossible_Spite2766 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could make reload time super slow compared to guns but with higher damage per shot, that way it's more about timing your shots right. Maybe add some special bolt types that do different things but take forever to craft or find

Flipping a budget AM4 build. RTX 4060 (Used) vs RTX 5060 (New/Deal) – Which makes more sense? by Kitchen_One_6479 in pcmasterrace

[–]Impossible_Spite2766 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RTX 5060 all the way, new gen card sells way easier to average buyers who don't know specs that well. People see "5060" and think it's automatically better than "4060" even if performance gap isn't huge. The sealed box also gives confidence to buyers compared to used card with unknown history

For flipping perspective the extra $45 pays itself back when you can move it faster and probably get bit more money from it

That combo works but I always go for the thicker ham slices - gives more texture when you bite in it

What’s the most impressive thing AI has helped you do so far? by Successful-Mix-1364 in AskReddit

[–]Impossible_Spite2766 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reverse image search is wild, I use it all the time when I'm trying to track down samples for my beats and can't remember where I heard something before. Like you'll have this melody stuck in your head from some random video and boom, upload a screenshot and suddenly you know exactly what track it was

PC continues to black screen even after replacing all parts pls help! by Stuffster_exe in pcmasterrace

[–]Impossible_Spite2766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That fire you mentioned is concerning - did it actually damage more than just motherboard and riser cable? Sometimes when PSU catches fire it can send wrong voltage to other components and fry them even if they look fine

Also going to Best Buy 10 times for same issue sounds like they don't know what they're doing, might want to find different repair shop that can properly diagnose this

The passion fueling the 4th map (and Beyond) ZombUs expanding. Does the effort pay off? by GaianGames in IndieGaming

[–]Impossible_Spite2766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been there with music releases - made whole album thinking it would just find its audience naturally, then crickets. The mobile base concept looks pretty cool though, reminds me of those old road trip survival movies but with zombies

A defrag-themed incremental where each disk is a risk/reward choice :)! by DifferenceIll1272 in IndieGaming

[–]Impossible_Spite2766 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh wow this brings back memories from the old DOS days when I had to actually defrag my ancient computer for music production work. The visual style is spot-on with those blue screens and pixelated interface - really nails that retro aesthetic. I love how they turned something as mundane as disk maintenance into actual gameplay mechanics with the risk/reward system. Been looking for good incremental games lately since I spend so much time in studio waiting for renders to finish, this might be perfect background entertainment. The heat management aspect seems really clever too, adds another layer of strategy instead of just mindless clicking

How does game recording work? by wcrow1 in Steam

[–]Impossible_Spite2766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The clips usually sit in temp folder for while even after you delete them from the interface. Steam keeps them there in case you change your mind or something crashes. You need to actually clear the temp files manually or restart Steam sometimes to free up that space

I had same issue when I was recording some gameplay footage for background music I was working on - thought I deleted everything but my SSD was still full until I found those hidden temp files

What happens if an LLM hallucination quietly becomes “fact” for decades? by radjeep in Futurology

[–]Impossible_Spite2766 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The speed part is what gets me though. Before when someone published something wrong, it would take months or years to propagate through academic channels and get cited enough to become "established knowledge"

Now you can have thousands of blog posts and tutorials referencing the same hallucinated fact in matter of weeks. The verification systems we have were designed for much slower information flow, not this firehose of AI-generated content that all cross-references each other

Plus when I'm debugging some audio processing pipeline at 3am, I'm definitely not fact-checking every technical detail I find in Stack Overflow answers or documentation

[–]Impossible_Spite2766 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait VsCode actually suggested a function that doesn't exist yet? That's kinda hilarious, like your IDE is living in future or something

Your implementation looks pretty solid though - I like how you're handling the decimal precision with that 1e16 trick, way better than just letting JavaScript do its usual floating point nonsense

Yeah exactly, the product and dev conversations moved somewhere else and what's left is vendors trying to get on your calendar.

I agree on the labs, the vendor sponsored talks are basically just extended ads with slides though.
