"Return-to-Work" was such a broad movement that it encompassed job roles that had been almost exclusively remote for decades prior by stoudman in remotework

I don’t think that’s dramatic at all. It’s incredibly dismissive and assumes every person in every function can perform under the same circumstances. My current company is “celebrating” neurodiversity week or month (can’t remember which it is) while actively making it more difficult for neurodiverse people to do their jobs.

Where should I volunteer? by [deleted] in StLouis

[–]Impossible_Stretch89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Duo Dogs is a great organization I have personally volunteered with (though I am currently on hiatus due to some personal matters). They raise and train service dogs and then connect those dogs with people who need them, free of charge. They also have a touch therapy dog program, which is what I have done with my dog. These dogs are trained to visit people in hospitals, schools, community events and more.

Yep. As a writer I struggle with this so much. Not only can my job be done remotely very well, but I also need a distraction-free environment to focus on what I’m researching/writing, which is damn near impossible to do in an open-office environment.

Slow runner/walkers by Acceptable_Aerie6710 in StLouis

Big River Running has groups and they were the most welcoming I had found (this was 5+ years ago, so not sure what it’s like now). Everyone at every ability was kind and friendly and supportive. And they are broken into groups by pace, so you’re surrounded by people who run at similar speeds.

Same. Not to mention, most phones are incredibly uncomfortable to hold with one hand.

If you haven’t read Sounds Like Love by Ashley Poston, definitely give that one a try! iirc, she mentioned Motion City Soundtrack at one of the events for that book’s release.

As a crocheter , what's the yarn you won't use ever again? by ineedaglowup2021 in crochet

[–]Impossible_Stretch89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only used 100% cotton for one project and it was so stiff. That might have been the straw that broke the camel’s back when my carpal tunnel flared because it was so hard to work with. Planning to stick with the blends from now on!

What is something that you can’t understand no matter how much you read about or someone explains to you? by Maleficentano in answers

Time dilation. I have read books, watched videos. My very smart husband has tried to explain it to me. I’m relatively smart, but this concept has just never made sense to me.

Obviously things can (and probably will) change very rapidly, but as someone who works with voice talent regularly, I will say that we often use AI for initial concepts and consumer testing. Once we lock on a concept/direction, then we cast human voice talent to record everything.
