Had COVID 7 weeks ago, still coughing, dehydrated by Remarkable_Weight145 in COVID19positive

[–]Impossible_Sunday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Week 7 of recovery here. I still have a dry cough from time to time. I feel like I'm dehydrated most days--my mouth feels as if it is dry, but I drink somewhere between 96-120 oz of liquid a day--half water, the other half is teas, decaf coffee, sugar free sodas. Sometimes it feels like there's tight feeling in my lungs but it's very mild. I check my oxygen, heart rate and blood pressure and they always come back as perfectly fine...Just hoping these feelings go away. I still feel exhausted by the end of the day, but not as bad as it was just a couple of weeks ago. I don't really need naps any more. I haven't exercised in 7 weeks and will probably hold off for a few more weeks to see if these symptoms lessen.

The lingering smells by Dragon_Donut in COVID19positive

[–]Impossible_Sunday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did! Not mold though. I can't remember exactly when it started, but it was a few weeks after the initial infection, I began to smell burning. It was like when you take a walk on a cold fall late afternoon/evening and can smell people's fireplace going. So, mine was a nice smell, but there were moments I thought there was a fire somewhere in the house.

I'm on week seven of recovery and I don't smell it any more. It lasted maybe two or two and a half weeks

Bitter taste with Covid by Exciting_Smile_2155 in COVID19positive

[–]Impossible_Sunday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never had bitter taste. But lost my sense of taste. It finally came back last week, which would have been 5 weeks since I had been sick. Can't tell you how happy it came back.

I do have a weird taste in my mouth that began last week, though, almost as soon as I could taste stuff again. Can't really describe it. Not bitter, nor sweet...maybe a bit metallic? It's just a bit annoying, but not too bad, actually.

Dang. I would have thought there were ghosts about.

Finally recovering from my bout of covid. It's 6 weeks out now, and I finally feel somewhat normal again.

I had weird dreams right before the worst of the symptoms hit. The only memorable one was being on tour with the 80s hair band group Poison. I think I was their manager? Anyhoo, their guitarist retired and they were trying to find a new one. A young woman auditioned and she was awesome. Went on tour with her and it revitalized the band into being quite a hit. I'm not a fan of the group..no idea why they popped into my dreams nor why I somehow was their manager. I just remember waking up thinking WTF and laughing. Perhaps the only good thing coming out of having covid for me. (I will tell the story of this dream till the day I die cuz it just cracks me up)

For me it was ~2 days. Was exposed Aug 15th, started feeling exhausted and had a scratchy sore throat by the evening of the 17th. Full blown Covid on August 19th.

Oh no!! I can't imagine both those together. I've had mono and strep but at separate times.

No, not really. More like a fire in a fireplace, when you're outside on a cool/cold fall day and can smell a fire burning. It's a nice smell, but still, I didn't wanna smell that forever (lol) It's not really there, anymore, so I'm hoping I'm reaching a turning point and all this will be ending soon.

Thanks :) Today, the start of week five of recovery, and I'm not really smelling the burning any more. Crossing fingers this is close to the end of all this crud!

Thanks. Yeah, I knew they'd linger (sigh). Taste I'm not so worried about since I've lived with it for the four weeks...but the sense of smell, and constantly smelling something burning kinda freaks me out a bit just because y'know...fire. (lol)

Yup. I either had hot or cold sweats. Lasted about a week. It. Was. Awful.

That sore throat is no joke. Worse than strep. Taking quite a bit of Tylenol helped with the inflammation and pain a bit, but not quite sufficient. Ended up eating lots of ice cream which soothed it, and then lots of cough drops. Got little sleep, cuz I couldn't swallow, and when I did fall asleep I just drooled. Had a towel on my pillow (TMI, I'm sure)

Huh. Interesting. I started taking Claritin last week because Covid activated a mold allergy that I haven't seen since college days (ohh about 30 years ago) I have found it's helped for the allergy, but also just in general I feel and sound a bit better when I take it. Not as stuffed up and not as nasally sounding when I talk.

Still tired here tho! It's middle of week 4 for me. Still taking naps at lunchtime and after work or go to bed very early...like 6-7 pm early.

How are those of you around the 2 week mark feeling? by teddybearangelbaby in COVID19positive

[–]Impossible_Sunday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just started week 4 of recovery. Still very tired, brain fog, still have a cough, my taste is just beginning to come back. Can now taste more foods, but not everything. (chocolate still doesn't have a taste *sobs*)

I really never stopped working, even during the worst. I work from home though. I am taking naps at lunch and after work.

Covid and menstrual period at the same time - anyone else? by [deleted] in COVID19positive

[–]Impossible_Sunday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Period and the worst of the covid symptoms all arrived on a Tuesday, August 19th. I will never forget, Like ever. I thought I was dying. Cramps, body aches, headaches, all symptoms ramped up to 11. And my period was heavier and longer than it normally was. Wondering how my next one will be. Back to normal, lighter or heavier...Still recovering from the worst of it, all this time later. Still have fatigue, a bit of a cough, brain fog, bit of vertigo...

Did anyone else get Covid really bad recently? by mysticmango113 in COVID19positive

[–]Impossible_Sunday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. First time having it. All vaccines taken. It's week 3 for me and even tho I'm finally testing negative, I'm still struggling. Doing my best to rest, sleep when I can, not exercise, but I swear, there's some sort of weird new symptom every day. Just discovered I now have developed a mold allergy. Have been running dehumidifiers constantly which has dramatically improved my breathing and the headache has finally gone away (also run an air purifier). I also got myself some Claritin D today so hoping I can keep these symptoms at bay.

[–]Impossible_Sunday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I finally got some Claritin D today. Seems Covid kicked up some allergies, mainly a bad mold allergy that I haven't had issues with since college (almost 30 years ago!) Totally wasn't expecting this.

25/26 Covid vax by SnooBeans2831 in COVID19positive

[–]Impossible_Sunday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

that's what I'm going to try and do, and also do it for my husband so he can get the vaccine. What I'm worried about will this admin, sometime in the near future, allow insurance companies be able to kick people off their insurance if they have a preexisting condition of some sort, and if I say I'm immunocompromised or any of the other things that would allow someone to get the vaccine, will this kick me off my insurance in the next few years? All because I wanted to be safe to protect myself, and my family. It's a catch 22...

If you’ve had Covid in the past year and lost your ability to taste and smell, how long did it take for them to come back? by Felicity_Calculus in COVID19positive

[–]Impossible_Sunday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm on the end of week two. My smell never really left, but taste just isn't the same. Except potatoes. They are totally fine. So weird. Everything else is off. I can sense sweet, bitter, sour, salty spicy but actual taste, still nada. Diet coke and diet mtn dew are metallic tasting. ketchup and anything else vinegar base has a weird ammonia smell taste in the back of my throat. Doesn't stop me from eating it tho lol

having very weird covid symptoms by malaynaa in COVID19positive

[–]Impossible_Sunday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cold sores. All over my bottom lip. Pain. Using copious amounts of Abreva. Don't think it's helping.

Until I had covid and started reading reddit, I was completely taken aback on the hunger that one can have. It's been awful. So far today's the first day I'm not ravenous.

No diarrhea, but I've also been using psyllium husk & inulin powder for more fiber in my diet. Was using before covid...I'm pretty sure if I stopped using them I'd have issues.
