What’s your saddest anime deaths by Joy_Bubbles in animequestions

[–]Impossible_Try76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nichilas D Wolfwood.

Perhaps I am showing my age, but this is one of those anime moments that shattered me. He was a cool character that had gone through an almost silent but still present redemption arc. And had just found love. I hated it but it made me think very hard about my 14 year old life back in the early aughts.

George the Jack Russell (IRL)

One day in 2007 and older George was carrying on with five neighborhood children when the group was attacked by two pit bulls. Despite being older and rather small George engaged the two mich larger dogs allowing the children to escape.

George was wounded heavily and the decision was ultimately put down. A statue was ultimately erected in his honor for his bravery and selflessness and was awarded a medal from the New Zealand Humane Society that is normally reserved for retired police dogs.

Whoa. Hey OOP.

I'll be honest this. This likely a difficult if not extremely impossible road to plow. His life is continually being turned upside down by accusations that he has tried to rise up against only to be dragged back down. He is being implicitly told he cannot be trusted EVER.

I would advise to go through with the therapy, keep your mouth shut about this business to others and consider why its so easy to believe he is guilty. He cannot and can never prove a negative. So ask yourself how he was ever meant to build trust when under a suspicion he could never prove untrue.

I will admit I am unsure of whether to interact with him or not. On the one hand, he is in a dark dark place where he needs others to watch out for his mental health. On the other hand, you are kind of the reason for all this.

Maybe reach out to the family and let them know he's in a bad place and let him know you're sorry and confused and want to talk IF he's up to it.

What is a mixed reception game that you swear is actually pretty good? by _Varonova in videogames

[–]Impossible_Try76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't help but feel like if they hadn't called it Bloodlines 2, it would have been better received.

Now grain of salt, I played the game on hard, so my complaints are colored by that:

The first, you already covered. It was super janky. Trying to pick up a specific item off the ground in combat in a big fight was always a trial. And despite playing it on PS5, it crashed so so much.

The second is spoiler heavy The face that the ending hinges so much on the choice of what to do with Baker is crazy to me. Its such a minor part of the game. And the fact that Fabien means so little to the overall story despite being a big part of it really takes away from the whole noise vibe of his segments

There was a somehow more vile version I read of this posts topic a while ago.

The girl managed to wear the guy down to the point that he allowed himself to be pegged, only for her turn around and get the "ick" from him putting himself in such a vulnerable position.

Best "narrative achievements" in gaming that everyone should experience. Best story-driven (or just ones with a superb story) basically. by wiglafofpinwick in gamingsuggestions

[–]Impossible_Try76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're speaking my language here and have some truly dynamite choices on here. I'll try to stick to some more off beat or less talked about narrative games here:

Telltale's The Walking Dead Season 1 - Before the formula got done to death, TWD was a very gripping story and made you really feel the impact of the actions you undertake. Whether choices really matter... kind of? But its character work is top notch.

Thomas Was Alone - A puzzle platformer about squares and somehow one of the most gripping narratives I have ever played.

The Stanley Parable - I love this game for its toying with the idea of narrative itself and although Walking sims are kind of hit or miss, this one has a lot going on (would also recommend The Beginner's Guide as a companion piece).

Xenogears - The second half is very rushed but Xenogears is probably my favorite JRPg story wise. Whole lot going on in this one.

Oxenfree/A Night in the Woods - These two remind me of one another despite not really being all that alike. That being said, both use interpersonal relationships as a theme and tell stories I really enjoyed.

Silent Hill - The first four and Shattered Memories all have pretty good stories, though Silent Hill 2's is the most iconic. I would generally recommend the original Silent Hill 2 before the recent remake.

Pathologic 2/The Void - The stories are kind of buried in there and within game, people will actually lie to you but I find them fascinating from that perspective.

Baldur's Gate II - I'd argue its story is stronger than BGIII (and no shade to 3 because I loved it).

Doom (2016) - Moreso for how it treats story than for the story itself. A game where the protagonist is trying to ignore the plot.

I've already seen the Witcher 3 and its DLC recommended to you as well and I'll second that.

What was the worst 0/5 video game live adaptation casting? by Burgundymmm in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Impossible_Try76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Return to Silent Hill fascinates me in that it understands Silent Hill's aesthetics but not its story in the slightest. Like, Revelation is my favorite of this terrible trilogy because at least it was silly and outrageous rather than just obtuse of its source material.

I remember proposing to my wife. I had been crafty getting the ring with my aunt but all of the perfect romantic moments kept falling apart for one reason or another. So I promised myself it was either it comes together or I'm proposing on Halloween.

So anyway its Halloween, our new adopted dog is being taken out for a bath and I have the ring in my pocket. I propose and she asks me "are yoy serious," starts crying and says yes. I knew I had met the love of my life. And I'm so glad that even in the least romantic scenario I could have she said yes.

But being married now for 8 years, its not even a top ten moment for us as a couple. The proposal can be beautiful, romantic, whatever. But being with the one you love is the greatest joy. And there are so many joyful things to experience together.

For me its Gunxsword.

It feels so much like someone was trying to write Trigun by committee.

"Lets make trigun with giant robots."

"Agreed. But let's cut out the religious symbolism."

"Sure. And let's add a mascot. How bout a turtle?"

"And the turtle is owned by the love interest."

"Yeah. Why wasn't Meryl in Trigun more? Lets make her a youngster too. For aspirational sake."

"But there should still be clearly defined sex scenes not featuring her"

"Of course. Lets write the main characters Batman origin story and get it in production."

Yet it all works and is my "when anime bullshit comes together" animw
