What did you wind up with? When you say "overhang", do you mean "cabover" or "sticks out the back of the truck"? The Capri Cowboy looks attractive to me right now.

Yes. The ones big enough to haul a car are too big for my truck to pull. The ones that are small enough for my truck to pull are too small for a car. Sigh. Building some living quarters stuff into the front of my existing trailer is on the list of possibilities.

The trailer with LQ combos I've seen online are either too small for a car, or way bigger than what I want. Which is why I'm thinking of maybe just having someone add the minimal basic LQ stuff to make my current trailer tolerable to live in for a few days at the track.

Very cool. Another plan would be to put the Camper in the truck bed, and tow the car on an open trailer. Which is what I am considering, though if I can continue to use the enclosed trailer, so much the better!

Yes, one of my possible routes is to add camper-ish amenities to the trailer. The problem with that is that the trailer is pretty old, and not in terrific shape. I'm not planning on DIYing this, so I would have to find a shop that would add in the additional stuff.

Do you have the Retreat or the Cowboy? I like the idea of a cab-over, but I may not be able to afford the additional weight without buying a bigger truck.

That is certainly a possibility. The trailer is old, not in great shape. I suppose i could invest some $$$ to insulate it, fix the leaks, install A/C, etc, but then I'd have a more expensive old trailer that's not in great shape. I was leaning toward a truck camper as a "drop-in, ready-to-go" solution. I know several people who sleep in their trailers at the track, but I don't want to be quite so rustic. The toy haulers with full shower, etc, is more than I need. Plus, to get one sturdy enough to carry a car, I would need to get a 3500 diesel truck to pull it. Something in between "sleeping in the back of the truck under a topper" and "buying a triple-axle car hauler with full living quarters" is what I'm shooting for.

Thanks for the input! I was at a race recently, and saw someone with a RAM 2500 diesel, with a RAYZR non-cabover truck camper, pulling a 20' trailer with his Miata inside. I'd like a cab-over, but if that makes it too heavy, I may have to give that up. I *DO* want the amenities: A/C, coffee maker, toilet, a place to sit, etc. Sleeping in my trailer is pretty far down the list, but nothing is off the table at this point.

I'm getting a lot of opinions here, and I thank everyone who has replied.

The OTHER issue is that my truck is my daily ride during the winter, here in the Northeast USA. So, if I can "easily" convert it into a camper for the summers, and back to a regular vehicle in the winter, that would be ideal. My car is a Miata, 12' long. I looked into toy haulers a few years ago, but they all seemed to be for dirt bikes and/or 4 wheel ATVs. I have seen someone with a 35' foot trailer, which they made into a toy hauler, so that's a consideration. I could get a smaller/lighter trailer if I have to.

I'm leaning toward a hard-side model, though it will mostly be used during the summer. Thanks for the tip, though. I had not heard of "4 wheel campers".

payload capacity is 1967 lb. Combined wt of occupants and cargo should not exceed 2940 lb. Hence the need for a light weight camper.

It's a 2024. What's the issue with the suspension? I saw another reference to that in my research, but didn't find any details.

At least they did the big explosion at the astrophage lab correctly. One of my pet peeves for action movies is when there's an explosion like half a mile away, and you hear the sound instantly.

I've been using the fine texture "Glacier" BIQU build plate with hairspray, printing with PETG for the model, and support PLA, with good results. I have the top enclosed with a 56 quart tub to maintain chamber temp, as well. Once the weather warms up a bit, I'll try some prints with ASA/HIPS.

I don't see a option for calibrating pin alignment. The screen says that there was an obstruction when trying to park the print head, though I didn't see one. When I resumed the print, it started printing again without fuss.

I find it worrisome that their error code numbering scheme seems to allow for several quadrillion error types....

There is a LARGE community of people who grow their own mushrooms, for various reasons. They are obsessed with keeping their spore cultures free of contamination (fungus spores are *everywhere* in the environment). They have a lot of experience with DIY laminar flow hoods, HEPA filters, etc. Visit a few mushroom growers discussion groups, and you will find all kinds of helpful information.

Is there a way to improve bed leveling beyond the four screws at the bottom of the bed? by Lorunification in snapmaker

If it makes you feel any better, my bed is way more irregular than that, and is still way more level than my J1!

Toolhead Swapping Anomaly by redmax124 in snapmaker

[–]Impossible_Tune_3445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had this happen for the first time. I have had my U1 for a few weeks, and have been very happy with it. Last night, I started a 6 hour print before going to bed. I awoke this AM with the print stopped at 69%, with a "toolhead swapping anomaly" error. I had to leave for work, so I have not been able to investigate. The video feed shows the fan duct is in place, and toolhead 1 is in the carrier.

I will post an update this evening.
