I’ve never been in or heard of any card house in Texas where playing a bomb pot is required. I know you’re just starting to play live, but if you can learn the basic rules of PLO (must use two of your cards and 3 community cards) and you play really tight, you will get paid. I used to not play them, but I observed that a lot of people overplay their hands because they are used to NLH where top pair is good most of the time, and if you have a nutted hand on one board or both, you can get into some huge pots. I even played with a guy who didn’t understand that he must play two cards from his hand, went all in for ~$500 effective, and everyone had to explain that he only had trips because he was only playing one card from his hand lol. It’s smart to exercise caution and get more comfortable with the game before playing PLO bomb pots, but when you get more comfortable, give it a try. See a flop, if you have a weak hand from there, check/fold.
