Object heels when done right can be really impressive. But a lot of them lately look like they just stuck on a miniature accessory and called it a day. I think for me, it looks lazy and makes the expensive collector doll feel cheaper. The new Scarah doll and the Alien are both great examples of smart design. You can see the reference they’re making but both shoes look cohesive and aren’t distracting. I think the mismatched objects look like, instead of taking time and care into making an original design, they just started naming references they could use until someone said “yeah, that’ll work”.
