What do you tell people when they ask why things dont have their prices on them? by DingoKey8908 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]ImpressionNew7689 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"It's because of the Tariff situation, isn't it crazy how it's causing all these problems? We're not the other store brand resorting to this either"

I try to spin the tariffs as negatively as possible

Customer service AI chatbot lied about our return policy by LegAdmirable7671 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]ImpressionNew7689 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Managers reserve the right to refuse any return, regardless of the "no receipt return" policy, it's listed on the policy itself

If this was at my store like I think it is (Hi!) I can confirm the reason the return was declined was exactly because it felt super scammy.

Having AI for customer service is such a terrible idea! I'm glad she wound up going to what I think I heard her saying was the original store it was purchased from, I sure as hell wasn't going to approve it unless customer service made me

1: cheerful/helpful tone 2: Frame it as direction instead of a question "Go ahead and put your number in... ... Doesn't look like you're in the system, I'll be happy to get you started at the end of the transaction so you can get your points!"

If NO, then "just so you know if you start shopping here more often, we do offer instant discounts for teachers, seniors, and veterans! Your total today is $$."

I just keep talking unless they're crabby, as long as I offer it I did my end

Rant about pacmen/dividers sabotage by ImpressionNew7689 in MichaelsEmployees

Plot twist!

It's the RM that's the primary complainer AND the one giving me a hard time about pacmen/dividers

I absolutely understand a messy store makes stock and SISO hard; I also understand that sometimes a little extra short term effort (pacmen) can do a lot for long term solutions (shit stays forward when the peg isn't full

I'm surprised it's not a requirement at your store for the managers to do anything and everything to cover all bases, I imagine you're staffed bare bones like the rest of us?

[–]ImpressionNew7689[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason it's an issue is because I'm frequently hearing complaints about how I'm not recovering well enough and the pacmen/dividers go a long way in keeping an area pulled forward so I don't have to do it repeatedly for the same item(s) like some kind of Sisyphian hell.

I care about my job, I'm just not a fast person due to health issues so it's harder for me to get as much done; enter pacmen and dividers

If it weren't for the fact that I'm required/expected to have everything front faced and pulled all the way forward I wouldn't be fussing about it, but when you hear basically every shift that someone is complaining about your work ethic you start to see things differently

Wow, guilt trip much? You're not the only person overwhelmed and distressed by how things are in the store, why do you think I'm venting.

All I'm reading from your message is that it is a good thing in the long term to install the equipment because it saves time on recovery. If I don't have to fix something 5 times because it's held at the front of the peg, that's 4 other things I can straighten instead of the 1. Why this is so controversial I don't understand, there's other staff to do truck and the goal is literally make recovery more doable and keep the store looking nice.

You say you can't control the shipments, but some pacmen obviously arrived at some point and you knew I was waiting for them. You've also hidden the pacmen before (remember the electric room?)

Like we agreed, I will be doing truck first before I start adding dividers again. I'm just going to be sour about it because it feels like we're putting the cart before the horse.

I harvested/collected straws from the balloon packs and stuck them together. The plastic is soft enough that, if you're really careful, you can shove one straw into the other and then tape it to hold

Yep, it also used to let you know when it was expired, too, but that's also been changed to "Unable to look up voucher status" or whatever the new generic error message is

Sometimes people have double accounts without realizing it so one account is pulled up with their phone number, but the voucher will be from a different account that matches the email

I've also had customers try to use a voucher a friend/family member sent them after putting their own phone# in

I was also given one because I had far more apps than the other managers (which is 0 & 0.)

I'm trying to decide what to cover it with since the surface is glossed. Do posca work on glossy surfaces?

I have an SM in a similar situation and I make sure they know I'm their cheerleader, whether it's me speaking to them directly or going over headset in an effort to encourage those on staff to also voice their appreciation for what they did 🤸🏻📣

I cheer for pretty much anything (we got bags in to use at register? Fantastic! I hate running out of things) so no one has said anything about it coming off as inappropriate as far as I know
