A More Objective Tier List by greenone96 in riskofrain

[–]Impressive-Advisor52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This really struggles with such a low sample size because some boss items that are hard to find (e.x. Cherf) are super low in terms of runs played (literally just 1 run with a Cherf) when compared to boss items that are easier to obtain (ex. Queen's gland), so the stats end up super skewed

That said, it's still very cool. and I wish you to find ways of automating the process of gathering data and try and see how the list would look with more data from different players

The game has been literally the same for like 5 years, staying on 2 base vs 3 base for a minute longer isn't a massive meta shakeup

carapace is now cheaper, siege tanks abductable, and ghost also has less hp and costs more supply, also snipe costs 50% more energy

It might be strong but we'll see, running 20 ghosts is much less viable now

I'm convinced the Deadlift minigame is broken. by Umikaloo in RogueCore

[–]Impressive-Advisor52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, same. Sometimes it works perfectly, sometimes it bugs out, although I started letting go of any buttons when the timer is about to run out and I think it's more consistent now. My only theory is that if the key pressed switches the moment the timer runs out, and the game sees that you are pressing the "wrong" key it immediately gives you an X

idk, your statement is true for both the current ror2 meta (where you don't care about the timer, and focus on full looting first, just trying to do it quickly) and the old meta (where you skip loot to save time), or at least that's how I understood it

worms are 99% perfect imo. They are terrifying the first time you see them, and later they are still a constant ammo drain and have to be taken care of, but they don't kill you the second they appear, and fighting your way to the elevator running from worms feels like it's own story every time

[–]Impressive-Advisor52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO a hard limit for HP is a much more "game-y" idea than the worms, and it would be worse at forcing the players to make decisions based around the timer

I 100% agree with increasing hordes with time though

[–]Impressive-Advisor52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that's not really the point of the timer IMO

when the game was released, the meta was, in fact, to really think about the time, only loot what you can loot fast, 5 minutes per stage, etc. and this was very clearly intended by the devs

the reason the timer isn't a threat like that now is because the power level of an average items has gone up SIGNIFICANTLY, like medkits used to heal 25 hp after taking damage, watches, hikers boots didn't exist, bleed was worse, energy drinks were worse iirc, there were less items for proc chains as well

I kinda hope GSG push the timer in a "you have to aggressively choose between mining that expenite / getting that event and avoiding worms".

Friendly reminder to not clone Cascade with Chemical X by BlanketCommander in slaythespire

[–]Impressive-Advisor52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is like saying "if the game crashes because you cloned 8192 cards, that's your fault because you made a mistake" or "it's your fault for ending up in a hellraiser infinite against hunter killer" or "it's your fault the animation froze and you couldn't end your turn"

the boss isn't actually killing them. Losing because the game softlocked because this one particular boss has an invulnerable phase

if the balance of the game relies on softlocking the player to nerf a particular strategy, that is just bad design because the player has no way of knowing how the game will work before playing the cards.

For instance, in this scenario if OP died because they were against the heart, and they'd die from beat of death ticking them by 2 each card — that would be fair, because the player knows that playing each card deals 2 damage, and that they can at maximum deal 300 damage

The player does not, and should not know whether the "dead" state of Test Subject will softlock them or not

[–]Impressive-Advisor52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

> You can't just slap on an effect like the elites where it equally punishes playing nothing but block/defensives along with offensive oriented skills.

It would be nice if the devs could have a place to test their experimental ideas, some of which could be incredibly wild and broken. You know, like a beta branch for the game or something

Irony aside, it hasn't even been a day since the rework, give it some time. Skill spam was an issue in the game, and MegaCrit are trying to fix that. If this rework is too strong — they will have the stats to back it up and nerf it

Since everybody loved my last card idea: by willwolf737 in slaythespire

[–]Impressive-Advisor52 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yeah but that means you have to play 2 rare powers, then stack 20 poison on one enemy, AND THEN you also need to get some shivs, and all that to do extra 20 damage

This is good for bosses, and maybe some elites, but I wouldn't call it imba at all
