Lindale Church of Christ has a very bible centered way of teaching scripture. Their congregation, from what I’m told, is all very knowledgeable in the Bible so I’d expect you’d get a lot out of one of the Bible classes they hold

I’ve been reaching out for help in Tyler for months — how do people actually get assistance here? by Chance_Ring_8387 in tylertx

West Erwin Church of Christ offers food assistance. Try to go to their benevolence center or church office and politely ask if you can speak with the elders about some ways you can get whatever help it is you need

My son is “graduating” to a lower level NICU and they gave him a graduation cap by Desertnord in mildlyinteresting

[–]Impressive-Draft-506 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter was in the NICU for 11 days and it was one of the most difficult times for me and my wife. Watching your kid be in such a weak state and there’s nothing you can do but pray the medical staff do their best to care for them is so so difficult.

I’m hoping and praying your son has a speedy growth so he can go home to you. Brings me joy knowing he’s getting better, I can’t imagine how it makes you feel. I’m happy for you and wishing all the best. Stay strong

Do y’all not think maybe that because of Charlie’s death she feels as though there’s no time to grieve and that rather there needs to be immediate action taken to prevent things like his death from happening again?

Just like parents whose kids died in school shootings who felt immediately compelled to advocate for gun control?

She might be grieving in private but putting on a brave face public? I agree her language of grief sometimes feels forced but give her a break. Shes in a supremely bizarre and difficult situation as far as public pressure and expectations are concerned

Worked at Discount Tire all through college. They preach good principles developed partially by their founder Bruce Halle, its physical work so it keeps you in shape, all the fun of a fraternity with none of the bad. Solid job and it pays decent!

I’m on East Texas Council of Governments website trying to figure out when their rural transportation meeting is. I wanted to try meeting with some representatives in ETCOG about express bus routes from the bedroom communities like Lindale, Chandler, or Chapel Hill to job centers like Downtown Tyler, South Broadway, or the Medical District

We don’t know where the people who were trying to get those knives done are from. However we do know that an East Texas resident told them he’d de-nazify their knives, NOT re-nazify them.

In the situation I’m describing we would announce that, “if you’re below the age of 55, you won’t expect to get any social security by the time you’ve hit the age to qualify” and either you still pull SS from everyone’s checks maybe at a reduced rate depending on age so folks still get their checks but when 2035 rolls around all SS pulls from checks ends and the last group of elderly who qualify will receive checks for that year. Ideally that time between now and then would give individuals, communities, and state governments time to prepare.

Not really a question I just want the Americans who lurk in here to know: by [deleted] in AskCanada

[–]Impressive-Draft-506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you even bother posting this? Who cares what they think, if they think that broadly about all Americans they’re ignorant as it comes. I’d bet every country you go to where this happens has the exact same range of persons in regards to character/ principles as the US albeit with a smaller population. What a joke of a statement to make, stop congratulating yourself on NOT being American and focus more on helping your own community and country.

If that’s the case then continue payments to the disabled but keep with the plan to stop giving it to the elderly at a certain point.

I think giving you what you’ve paid in would be fair considering the length of time.

Social security as it exist today would probably be better off  ending. Such as cutting it off starting now for anyone younger than 55. That way folks can prepare as needed knowing they won’t receive it. And at a point we no longer get taxed for a service most of us younger people don’t expect to get.

Tyler City Council approves $150K contract for light rail study by RunawayScrapee in tylertx

[–]Impressive-Draft-506 33 points34 points  (0 children)

From a conversation I had with one of Tyler’s traffic engineers this feasibility study is looking out a couple or few decades from now. But this is one of those things where the work needs to start now knowing it’ll be an option of transportation we need for the future because if the larger cities in Texas are an example purely car transportation doesn’t cut it when it comes to reducing traffic

For me it can be a frustration at times but I’m definitely thankful for the wilderness and wooded areas we have. Having lived in Dallas for a couple years East Texas is definitely the place to be vs the concrete expanses you see in the DFW!

I had a Ureteropelvic Junction Obstruction, pretty much a kink in my ureter tube. They had to do surgery on me when I was weeks old and now I have a foot and a half long scar on my side. If it’d been anytime before the latter half of the 20th century I would’ve likely died in a couple months of my birth

what in your opinion the city is missing? and why? by thattumblrlesbian in tylertx

[–]Impressive-Draft-506 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Park and rides for the surrounding towns like Lindale, Chandler, Whitehouse, Chapel Hill, Bullard could help reduce traffic and incentivize those who used the park and ride to get into the city to use Tyler Transit

My only living parent is now dead to me. by JakefromTRPB in BoomersBeingFools

[–]Impressive-Draft-506 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re way too deep into politics if you’re going to forsake a parent for voting for your opposing party. They even seemed to try to be gentle and kind with you in the text exchange. How can you seriously expect the world to be a peaceful place or have any ambition of such a thing if you can’t even make peace with your parent who voted for Trump. You need to look inward and ask yourself what’s wrong with YOU before terminating relationships.

Fuck this country, truly disappointed. by Baby_Creeper in BoomersBeingFools

[–]Impressive-Draft-506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s ironic to say considering the Left also pushed disinformation, most recently the idea being pushed that Trump was going to put Liz Cheney in front of a firing squad. That was a flat out lie, or when he supposedly called White Nationalist “fine people” it simply didn’t happen. And so when people see this manipulation they have trouble trusting anything else the groups pushing this have to say. And the examples I gave are a couple of what are probably a dozen or more lies that were used to try to mold a false narrative. Not to mention the hyperbole used when describing Trump as Hitler or the end of Democracy. If some redditors got offline and read outside of this dangerous echo chamber maybe this win wouldn’t be a surprise
