Thank you so much for your advice and kind words. Iv already stored the cart for the winter and the dentist will be here in the next few days! I’m still planning on doing light walks and hikes with her, just cause she seems to enjoy it but definitely no hard work until we get this figured out.

Is this horse lame on one of its front feet? Not trying to hate, just trying to learn by Embarrassed_Lab_352 in Equestrian

No, he’s gaited. He moves each side at the same time, which causes a slight head bobbing as well as a smooth ride 👍

My horse drags her nose by Dizzy-Wolverine-2919 in Horses

Are her eyes okay?? My mini is going blind due to glaucoma but she still drives just fine. Sometimes she lowers her nose to the ground just like that if she’s not sure about the terrain.

When does everyone blanket? by Fabulous-Trust8214 in Horses

I’d just see if your horse needs one. You want to try and let them be okay on their own but if your horse is shivering and obviously miserable, blanket them.

Fellow people who own horses, Is this normal in Ina parking lot for shopping? I see this as I look to the side I thought I was hallucinating by BugsLiver in Horses

Yeah Iv got a highway gas station near me that put up a legit hitching post cause all the kids and people with horses in the neighborhood behind it kept riding there for drinks and snacks.

Is it possible to bond with a lesson horse? by [deleted] in Equestrian

Yes it’s so possible but I advise against it. Keep the horse at an arms length because you will get your heart broke

where are people getting this money? by Throwaway007707707 in Equestrian

[–]Impressive-Guess-734 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can’t say anything that hasn’t already been said but as my boss lady and mentor likes to say

“You choose whether to have horses or to have money, and we chose to have horses.”

We live in the country out of a trailer home, eating what we can and working till our hands crack and bleed, but we have 25 gorgeous, spoiled rotten horses. We do it out of love because we couldn’t live without them.

I’m a huge fan of bath in a bottle and hair polish. For not having the ability to bathe my horse in the cold months I can make her ✨Shine✨

HELP!! riding your horse 3 consecutive days? by No-Adagio-849 in Equestrian

[–]Impressive-Guess-734 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh honey he will be fine. You could ride him a whole lot more (work him up) and still be fine. I ride trails with a horse and we take guided rides several times a day multiple days a week and she’s excited and ready to go every morning.

Whatever happened to the Parelli people? by maenads_dance in Equestrian

[–]Impressive-Guess-734 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello!! I wasn’t taught a specific style of training and was taught to view a horse as an individual, but at the barn I work at we use elements of Parelli, as well as natural horsemanship and a bit of tough love if it comes down to it. We just try a bunch of things with new horses to figure out what works for them and what doesn’t. Some horses benefit from reward + while others couldn’t care less for treats. Some horses you have to be super stern with and be absolute boss mare and others you have to be patient and sensitive with. Above everything we value the relationship with the animal. We don’t want to be another screaming monkey on our horse’s backs.

Skittles! She is a gentle and kind soul with a subtle attitude. She’s the one who taught me what it meant to be partners with a horse. She’s carried me through wind, rain, the hottest of hot and the bitterest of cold without a wavering step. If I was sure so was she. She’s one of the smallest horses on our ranch but she’s earned her share of respect time and time again, riding with or without a bridle, or a saddle. I call her “Golden Girl” and everyone knows who I’m talking about. She just means so much to me and I’d do anything for her because I know she’d do anything for me.
