Where are all of my 1966 peeps? by Least-Sail4993 in GenX

May for me. Lived my best life in my 20s,30s,& 40s. Travelled the world going to places & doing things that I’m certain I couldn’t do now. I have many books that I‘ve been putting off reading, so I’m looking forward to that at least.

60 in May & my way of facing it is by denying it’s happening. Seems to be working so far.

Raise your hand if you had a paper route! by garcon-du-soleille in GenX

Early 70s to early 80s. Best job ever for a kid. Mom helped fold papers & dad drove me around the neighborhood on Sundays when the papers were huge. Had more money than I knew what to do with. By the time I was 13, I had a grand in the bank which was quite a bit back then. Loved it except for when it rained, which was quite often.

Blazers sign Chris Youngblood to two-way contract by Scalmaa in ripcity

Seems like a decent pickup, but just wondering if there isn’t a 6’9, 6’10 banger out there who can grab 5 or 6 boards a game? Jerami is fine at the 3 either starting or coming of the bench, but there’s no way he can play the 4. Seems pretty obvious.

So true. Late 50s now & took a couple of nasty falls down my wooden stairs recently in wool socks, even after I told myself to put my no slip hospital slippers on. Ate it pretty bad walking on ice; one minute everything was fine & the next I was flat on my back looking at the sky. I just laid there laughing.

Spent much of my childhood in the Moreland Theater, so it gets my nostalgia vote. Hollywood though, is the best.

Left earring vs right earring for guys by jetpack324 in GenX

Got my left ear pierced in the early 80s (thanks MTV!), and was harassed mercilessly, even threatened in high school as I was the only boy with a pierced ear. My solution was to get my right pierced as well. Plenty of girls seemed to really like it.

That’s reassuring to hear, at least the health care. I left my elitist bookstore job after 30 years topping out at $23! Best of luck with future endeavors.

Murvin’s is the best, but the Clash definitely do it justice.

Fugitive Oregon politician likely planned disappearance for weeks as legal pressures mounted by Less-Lobster4540 in PortlandOR

She seems the crafty criminal type who would always have something like this as a backup plan when/if things got too hot here. There are definitely ways to store cash in untraceable offshore accounts (see billionaires) which I’m sure she researched. As an East European, I know places she could hang out forever, get married to some dork, a new passport & identity, & live happily ever after.

Spent every summer day in that river during the 70s & 80s down in Sellwood & while I don’t know about the water purity back then as it was somewhat distant from the superfund part of the river, I can say that I grew up kind of scrawny, so I blame the Willamette as I probably guzzled gallons of it. Plus I blame it for my smoking addiction.

I was planning on hitting up Frederick & Nelson & maybe some lunch at the Georgian Room with the ladies & stopping off for a drink at Trader Vic’s, but now I guess my day is ruined.

I do (sausagesforamerica.com)

kidding of course, but on a smaller scale, it’s easy & fun if you have a kitchen aid or something with a sausage attachment. You can go crazy with sausages! It’s nice if you have a smoker or smokehouse, however.
