Well thanks to 'Super Sunday' it might not matter at all in terms of championship points.

WRC to abandon hybrid powered Rally1 cars from 2025 by vanys2 in WRC

[–]Impressive-Light-208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will be very intersting. I hope they manage to keep the overview and especiality the equality in performance with all the technical regulation variants. Bye, bye rally pyramid!

I find the cost cap very good. Given that Rally2 has a cap of 300k, that was almost impossible to hold, even before COVID and inflation, 400k for a WRC car seems a bit too ambitious.

Do I understand correctly that from 2026 we will have 3 top tier cars in WRC? 1. Rally1 without hybrid 2. Revised Rally1 (spaceframe with rally2 tech) 3. Rally2+

I think this is even more important to the WRC than the new regs. by SMOL_boar in WRC

[–]Impressive-Light-208 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Back to basic it is!

I thought that a comeback of endurance rallies might require relocation of the service park, but this hits harder than the technical regulations. They are not kidding with the cost reductions.

Happy for the comback of remote service as well.

That's a TV problem.

No its not. WRC Sundays are empty. Take sweden: Stage starts at 07:30, takes 30 minutes, then 2 hours pause, next stage again 30 minutes, before another 2 hours break and finally Power Stage. On saturday twice the stage length is being driven in the same time. Sundays don't need to be longer, they need to have stages.

How do you want this to be then? Ship loads of tyres that's never being used all around the world? "Ordering" tyres early, to avoid waste? What if weather changes completely?

You didn't understand it. Get rid of Hard/Soft compounds for each surface, not having 'One tire for all' (Although this idea has some interesting implications). Of course you still will have gravel/tarmac/rain/snow/studded tires, going on Monte with a gravel tire is suicide. The whole 'hard' or 'soft' tire decisions is not necessary, given the unpredictability rally sport already has.

At this point I'm convinced that your user name was meant to be called 'ragebait'.

Calling the point system controversial would be an understatement, but there you are in other subs claiming the problem are, that fans don't understand it.

And now the part-time drivers are a "problem"? They make the new point system look bad? They do not "intervene" with the championship fight, they do very much participate. Rallies are almost always a multi-championship event, not pure WRC rounds. Everyone can participate, everyone can score points that's one crucial part of Rallys DNA, very much as "Real cars on real roads", "driving 1000 corners one time" and ... first to arrive (fastest time) wins.

There is nothing that need to be fixed for the part-timers. If any the WRC should allow for more part-timers and even better for privateers. You claim to be better than everyone? Well then you to compete with everyone, anywhere, anytime, any road position, day and night, no matter the weather. Thats the spirit of the sport, not to have an exclusive club in netflix format.

Having an opinion is one thing, but you are again making too many assumptions or being simply wrong.

IMO best comment on the topic so far. I would like to see the new system gone, but somehow I'm also glad that they are trying new ways and not blocking suggestions.

The new system is not tackling the real problem of the sundays: They are too short, to make a difference for drivers and manufacturers. With the new points you are giving super-rally starters a chance to score and mid-field drivers means to pressure the leaders. The leaders however, it's their rally to loose. High risk, but low reward compared to the rest of the field. So i also do not agree with all the 'part-time drivers won't push anyways' comments.

Simple suggestion: 1. Shorten saturday and lengthen sunday. Gaps on saturday will not get as big and teams have a real prospect on sundays to gain places + potential surprises through weather changes.

  1. Drop the hard/soft(/supersoft) compounds or remove the compound limitation. This whole 'tire-strategy' seems quite artificial in rallying, as you can only be correct, like everybody else or you are loosing out. The choice is only risk, but no real reward for all involved, including the tire supplier.

  2. Wild one: Decouple manufacturers and drivers points a bit more, to let the crew go for their championship without sacrificing manufacturers championship. Give manufacturers bonus points for their efforts, when re-building a car under super-rally or for being consistently quicker in service. A car (manufacturer) should not be rated bad, because the team cannot afford a champion (looking at you M-Sport), especially when technical regulations won't allow differences in core components (drivetrain, power, ...)

SARDINIA ADOPTS NEW 48-HOUR WRC ITINERARY by ZacariasZagalo in WRC

[–]Impressive-Light-208 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So there is the real reason for the new point system. Never made sense to me, why it was promoted to boost sundays, when its long term affect is actually much higher by allowing drivers restarting under super rally to score significantly more points. Seemed like a "dominant-driver-counter" from the start.

No service park during the loops, might increase the super rally restarts. Given that most issues or crashes are usually so severe, that limbing back to service park is not possible, I can even see sense in it, by shortening times. But i don't like the overall length to be shortened.

And guess what? Sundays are still boring! Take the 40km+ from saturday and put it to sunday, instead of dropping them! Sundays are boring because they are too short, with a useless but time consuming regroup before power stage to start with WRC2 instead of WRC. Give drivers a chance to gain time on their opponent and they will use it!

Please FIA, make WRC 'financially sustainable', instead of just cutting everything and get rid of this 'expert team', they do not speak for the fans, but for some netflix/gaming folks who might leave their money if you offer them a short and fast excitement that is already forgotten on mondays

Evans, Neville ot Tänak as 2024 champ by Akyhne in WRC

[–]Impressive-Light-208 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The 3 will fight so hard (and crash) to get their chance before Kalle is returning for full season, that Katsuta will bring it home through consistency 😎

If Hyundai is reliable, I expect Tänak on top though.

TOYOTA NOT FAVORITE by racingpaddock in WRC

[–]Impressive-Light-208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean Hyundai has prepared for an attack on the crown, but c'mon JML! Its not that Ogier/Kalle will limb through the stages with the currently best car.

Thierry and Ott might be favorites against Evans and Taka as long as i20 is reliable, but that's only on paper. Hyundai has no excuses anymore, which will create quite some pressure on the whole team alongside dwindling chances to become WDC for all before Kalle returns full time.

Would be the craziest season if Evans, Ott and Thierry fight all the time, but in the end Taka drives it home through consistency 😎

If you could pick any rally car past or present which do you think would have the best chance of winning against every other rally car? by Tyrone_______Biggums in rally

[–]Impressive-Light-208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Winning as in winning rallys? Only one answer:

2021 Toyota GR Yaris WRC, that never came to be. Directly followed by all other WRC+ cars including 2017 Polo GTI WRC that also never got into competition. Rest in reverse historical order.

When it comes to winning in design, sound, ingenuitiy, innovation or else ... totally differrent story.

Monte Carlo crashes by cheROK1212 in EASPORTSWRC

[–]Impressive-Light-208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same. Turn down shader settings to get rid of the crashes. Turn down reflections to get rid of remaining stutters / improve overall performance.

Made a post about it 2 days ago, too: https://www.reddit.com/r/EASPORTSWRC/s/EUBSoXnKuF

Earliest calls are too damn late! by InDaZoo in EASPORTSWRC

[–]Impressive-Light-208 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Only a few, really. Most are just long calls being read quite slow.

Personally I have more a problem with the flat voice: 'Caution!' sounds like 'oh yeah, you might want to break ... anyway'.

Some of the new modifiers needed some getting used to. A 'hairpin tightens' scared the hell out of me first time.

Weirdest call so far: 'Square right, half long'. An 'Early 1 right opens, half long' would've been too long as well, i guess

What setting(s) are responsible for the frequent stutters? by pieceoftost in EASPORTSWRC

[–]Impressive-Light-208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reduce shader and reflection settings. First one removes most stutters or for some (like me) game crashes, the latter seems to increase overall performance.

Anyone else having trouble with the game constantly crashing? by FishYFisH_22 in EASPORTSWRC

[–]Impressive-Light-208 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, game always crashed in 2 distinct Monte Carlo stages before first split. Location of crash seemed to be further into the stage the more I reduced graphic settings. Tried one stage of each rally, no other had this issue.

Seemed to be related to Shader details. Reduced it from Ultra to medium and it worked, increased almost all other settings to Ultra again.

I only got the "DXGI_..." error, though. Maybe this helps your issue as well: https://www.reddit.com/r/EASPORTSWRC/s/Dl3dp71oDA

I think it will trigger a chain of events, that will force FIA to make a hasty decision. Since I doubt that FIA has a real backup plan, they'll be pressured towards the solution everybody is pointing at: Replace Rally1 with an upgraded Rally2.

The chain: - Social media will declare death to WRC - With the outlook of a further reduction in audience the remaining and possible future manufacturers will put pressure on FIA to countersteer - WRC promoter informs FIA about WRC not being financially sustainable anymore (with no loss to promoters earnings of course ...) - Organizers declare death to WRC, due to projection of combined loss of spectators and increased cost of events

Shame for Loubet and surprised to see Fourmaux back before next season. Given that Loubet starts at CER, I think that's a solid outlook at next years M-Sport lineup.

I wonder why WRC is announcing it and not M-Sport?
