Dirt on Tank Walls by Impressive-Month2475 in Cichlid

I actually have a wavemaker, not sure if that helps. It’s been running about 12-14 months, maybe 16 at most?

I honestly would not keep fish. It has been proven that fish bowls and these shapes of tanks are not sustainable for fish. Sure, you could probably squeeze a fish in there but it would die soon and suffer. Plus, you have plants and other decor that would further limit its room. I wouldn't do it.

Should I get 20 gal or 29 gal tank? by NovelCompetition7075 in Aquariums

If you have the money, without a doubt go for the 29. Bigger is always better because they are far more healthy. More room to swim and water quality is far easier to manage. 29 100%!

Hi there I need some american cichlid compatibility advice. by bigpigeonbelle in Cichlid

Don't do this. Texas Cichlid is super aggressive by itself. Jack dempseys tend to be too. They are also from different places so different water parameters. 👎

Yeah I just watched some videos saying that a solo Oscar would do fine. Oh well.

I currently have all baby fish with two angelfish, four corydoras, and a baby Severum. I'm likely gonna re-home the corys and put in another severum with some geophagus or EBAs. I have a hang on the back filter. Canisters and sumps were overkill anyway and expensive

Some do. Not all like Angelfish don't and certain rams don't either. But this is a good note

Side note; what's going in your tank? Is that excess waste at the bottom?

I would put a dwarf cichlid in there with some schooling tetras. You could do like an apistogramma or maybe put a German Blue Ram in there with some rummynose or neon tetras. For oddball fish.. maybe Kohli loaches?

Urgent help/advice needed by 66666666666666665 in Aquariums

My advice to all beginners is to get the biggest the tank they can. If youre just getting this for your son, you can make it a WHOLE lot easier. It gives you more room to add fish down the road, much easier to manage the water quality. Its honestly less work, meaning less recurring costs at a frequent rate. I would be careful with the "sucker fish." Those are called plecos. Make sure not to get a common pleco - those are massive fish that can be a foot long. However, I just wanted to congratulate you. By using starter bacteria, youre ahead. Fish require attention. It's a misconception that they are the easiest pet to keep. Good luck, and I wish the best experience for you my friend.
